Good morning,
Well, it happened.  I heard a song featuring Allison Krause that I
really liked, "Whiskey Lullaby".  I'm not sure why, but when we moved
to the new house I started listening to CMT sometimes - of my own
volition.  I suspect the former owners of having infected the house
with 'country germs' because that just didn't happen before now
(except for John Denver).  <G>
Since you were the one who first suggested Allison Krause I figured
I'd own up to you being right - about this one little thing.
Fair is fair.  ;-)

Take care,
Carmen
PS  Have you tried Eminem's stuff?  If not you might be shocked at how
thoughtful some of his songs can be.

I saw Eminem and Dr. Dre doing a Batman and Robin skit on MTV.

It sucked.

Unless he was singing it doesn't count.  BTW, thanks a lot.  Now I've
got an image of Dre in tights stuck in my head.
Just for that, picture this: Andre the Giant in drag as Marilyn
Monroe.

Take care,

Strictly speaking you're correct.  What Eminem does is more like a
poetry reading with a musical score.  And cursing.

I can appreciate his omni-denigrating rap to a  point, but after awhile
enough is enough, thanks, I got the point.  5 Mile was a good movie,
though, I've watched it a few times.  I love those rap battles.  I'm
really not into rap/hip hop all that much, but there are some pretty
cool "educated" rappers out there who have interesting things to say and
don't spend all their time cursing themselves and other people.
Pharcyde is great, for example, and as far as hip hop music goes, very
creative.  Generally though, I don't listen to the stuff.

Eminem seems to be maturing publicly.  He's apologized for *some* of
his earlier denigration, which leads me to believe it's sincere.  It
looks like he isn't stuck with all the crappy attitudes he had before.
Some have been rethought and discarded, so I have hope the guy will
someday be a really good human being.  It's easy to be good when life
has always been kind to you, but people who have to fight themselves
and the rest of the world before they straighten themselves out are
the ones I root for the hardest.  Just one of my foibles.  :-)

Take care,
Carmen

Poetry in the same sense as: There was a girl from Nantucket...

Hmmmm .. When I lived in Gatlinburg, I thought there was a state law that
you *have* to listen to CMT in Tennessee ....

That's waived if you were born in Texas.  <G>

It's possible for grownups of the opposite gender to carry on a
conversation without sex being anywhere in the picture.
It'll happen when you grow up.  You'll see!  Girls don't really have
cooties after all.  :-P

By your defensivness, Carmen, I feel you are being rather protective of
"our" JC.

I'm a little confused now.  Billy was talking about Peter and my
exchange when he made his comment.

If you had the other post in mind when you wrote this one - the one
about Bunky and JC - then I suppose anything is possible.  I don't
think that's the case, but if it were I doubt I'd readily see it.  The
concept of JC needing protection from anyone *is* pretty funny though.

Didn't girls have cooties (AKA "girl germs") when you were a young
boy?  Is that more regional than I thought?

If you're a girl, they are "boy germs".  If you're a boy, they're
"girl germs".  <G>
As a kid, they're dangerous and contagious, caused by direct contact
with the opposite gender.
Is there a British version?

I love this language thing : )  Not that I'm aware, my kids both think boys
are "totally ewww!", but I don't think they're actually contagious : )

Not that I remember, in the dim and distant playground past.  But then I

Exactly.  The guy doesn't spare himself from the hairy eyeball either.

I did laugh the first time I heard him say whay he'd do if that birdie
don't sing and that ring don't shine though.
The guy loves his little girl, but he's still a "work in progress".
