Suggestions for Week Three Stall?

I think I'm experiencing the week three stall. I've gained and lost
the same 1lb since about Jan 22.

I had a tooth pulled on monday, so I've been eating nothing but broth,
jello light and atkins shakes due to this and still no change. My
carbs are around 8-9 and I haen't gone over 600 calories the past
couple days. I usually have between 1200-1500 calories, once in a
while having up to 1700.

I haven't introduced any new foods and can't identify anything I'm
doing differently.

Should I just tough it out or are there some suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Is Jello Light the same as Sugar-Free jello? I found that if I have atkins
shakes and alot of aspertame containing foods (like sugar-free jello or caff
free diet pepsi) I stall and even get cravings.

I bet you will start losing once youstart eating again - sounds funny right?
It's happened to me though, I've had times where i had to add fat or make
sure I eat more full meals and I start losing again.

Good luck, hang in there!

I see we have the same goal weight (controversial as it may be LOL) my stats
don't show it but I was over 200 after having my kids and now I am 19lbs
from goal....hang in there - it's not as long a road as you may think!!

What do you mean by tough it out?  This is the way weight loss works.  Give
it time and those several days of low food intake will show up on the scale.

Make sure those shakes don't have sugar alcohols, however.  if they do, you
could be getting more carbs than you think, but it won't matter if you
calories are very low.

Bottom line: don't do anything special or different.  Get back on solid food
asap adn get your calories back up around 1200.  And you might try more
exercise since you didn't even mention that! :)

I meant along the lines of should it be something I should worry about
and try to change things, or will it just have its course and be done?

It's only the past 2 days I haven't been eating normally and this has
been going on for a while, which is why I'm not sure what's going on.

Thanks for the advice! I'm ordering an elliptical trainer tonight,
that should have some impact as well ;)

No.  Week 3 pause is completely predictable and a sign
that things are going well.  THE way to deal with it is
to still be on your plan of choice in week 5.  Whatever
the directions say, do that.  Even if it isn't obvious.
Even if you can search through the book and find
permission to do otherwise.

Suggestion: Make your monthly goals behavioral.  You CAN
control your behavior.  Like it or not you can't control
how your body loses on any specific time scale.  Rest
assured there hasn't been a dieter in history who liked it.

Just wait it out.  Since you referred to it as THE week three stall, it
sounds like you already know that it is very common and, in fact,
EXPECTED for weight loss to slow down significantly or even stop
temporarily, because the loss during the first two weeks is mostly water
and, thus, more dramatic.  Also, the body tends to pause and readjust
sometimes.  I've gone for periods of time with no weight loss, but with
DEFINITE reshaping.  Even if you eat low carb/low fat/low-cal for a few
days, the effect of that might not be apparent for a week or more.  Stay
the course and focus on the future rewards.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Just got passed that one myself. It is annoying. If you simply ignore it,
it'll kick in and hard. You'll start losing the correct type of weight.

Here is the scoop. You're not on a 3 week, 2 week, 4 week or any week
diet. You're on Diet. You're also not running a race.

I'm totally enjoying my new food habit. It's like a brand new world
discovered. Lots and lots of fun. Experimenting. Just totally being blown
away the possibilities of success.

I root for me. Root for you. And I just root. It's the journey. Dig it.
All of it.
