I'm moving from XL to L and have found some old clothes that suddenly fit.
One of my suit jackets even fits.  It feels a bit snug in the shoulders, but
it looks OK in the mirror.  I'll have to have it cleaned.  The suit has a
layer of dust on it.  -My best suit is still way too small.

Tonight at dinner I'm going to wear a suede vest-like thing with
sweater-like sleeves attached, that I have not worn in years.  It was a gift
from a girlfriend back in 1985.  It was my favorite.  (She left me for a
milkman.  Well, sort of.  Actually, his family owned a dairy....)

I tried to sell some of my used old huge pants on ebay, but there were no
takers.  However, my giant used 6X shorts sold right away.  ($18 plus S&H
for nine)  Some guy in North Carolina has them.  (Don't worry, I washed
them!)

I'm saving just the largest pair of pants, and throwing the rest out.  I am
burning my bridges behind me.

I found some green shirts that now fit.  They are in great condition, but
they have huge 70's collars.  I'm not planning on any costume parties, so
out they go....

I'm off to the store for heavy cream and almonds.  I recently found some
almonds in a barbeque flavor.  They are coated with the same stuff as
barbeque potato chips.  Yum.

That's nice.

When I was fat, I used to wear XL clothes. Now I wear M sized
clothes. I wore XL clothes a long time after I lost weight, until they
wore out. I still have some big clothes that I am keeping. I decided
not to burn any bridges, the statistics of weight regain is grim and I
do not want to spend money again on items that I could keep.

I think that there is a value in recognizing the dangers.

Get rid of them.  If you start regaining, having old clothes helps you to
ease back up the scale.  Having to buy new clothes will wake up (hopefully).

Yes, but there is value in making it hard to keep your head in the sand,
too.

Agreed. Get rid of them *now*. Been there, done that. You don't want
them around.

Yep. If you notice yourself fitting more snugly into your clothes, you
can take action more quickly. It's the same thing as weighing yourself
daily.

You're lucky you have clothes to move into.  I've been through a couple of
wardrobe changes already.

I donated my stuff.  I still have some things to give away, too.  i'm sure
someone is up hundreds of dollars in clothing.

Wise.  You might want to hang on to just one size larger, though. so you'll
have something to wear just in case you creep up, but only one size.

Have fun.  Almonds don't work around me.

Yes, I've found that it's very important to get rid of large fitting
clothes as soon as you can. I didn't a while back, and found myself
fitting back into them :-(

On a happier note, I'm back into size 34 jeans now. It took searching
through literally *every* men's clothing store at the outlet mall, but I
found one with four pairs of size 34, 29 inch length jeans. Yes, I
bought all four pairs. I'm 5' 10" but my legs are somewhat shorter than
average for my height. So my jeans have a tendency to be too long when I
buy the standard 30 inch length. They usually wear out by fraying at the
bottoms of the legs. 29 inch lengths are a bear to find.

While rummaging through some boxes of old clothes I did find a pair of
32 jeans, which I can barely fit into. Maybe by summer. And most odd of
all, I found two pair of size 30 jeans. I have *no* idea why I have
those. I cannot ever remember wearing that size. They look to be in new
condition. We'll see.

I got rid of all my old size 38 jeans (I never wore larger than that,
though for a while I was busting out in them), and many of my 36 jeans,
I'll keep some of the newer ones until I can find more size 34 in 29
length. I also got rid of many of my old XL shirts and 17 1/2 dress
shirts. I'm still keeping a few while we're in winter, and I'll buy
smaller ones for next winter. I've got a long of medium sized shirts
that people bought for me as gifts over the years that I could never
wear, so I'm actually all set in that dept.

One of my problems from the past is that I would tend to wear baggy
shirts, I guess thinking that if the clothes didn't fit me "tightly" I
wouldn't look heavy. Wrong. After watching a few episodes of "What Not
To Wear" (don't laugh) I've realized that if you wear properly fitting
clothes, you actually tend to look less overweight.

great job cubit on your weight loss.  by this time, stuff from 1985 is
just coming back into style so youre ahead of the game in a sense LOL
:)  thats wonderful tho.

i would recommend tossing the old clothes, except for the 1 pair as
well.  its cool to make an art piece out of them.  in fact.. thats a
great idea for the next show... anyway, i notice that every time i
failed my diets was because i just fit right back into the old stuff.
when i tossed them and it hit my already too small pocketbook, my mouth
closed and i quit eating as much.

chris, you and i did the same thing wearing the loose fitting clothes.
its really uncomfortable to outline yourself in tighter stuff, and lets
face it - its damn uncomfortable.  as a woman, i looked homeless in 3X
t shirts, 3X mens flannels and loose jeans... and i looked like a
circus tent :(  im too embarassed to post before pictures.

anyway, great job cubit.. funny story about the milkman too.

That *is* exciting!
Becasue I gained my weight fairly rapidly after a prolonged illness a few
years ago, I saved all my old clothes.  They're in plastic tubs marked by
size.  As I've lost weight it's been like getting a new wardrobe, opening a
tub and finding clothes I can wear  that I had forgotten about.

My biggest thrill size-wise was when I bought a new suit.  I've gone from a
size 50 down to a 44 jacket.

Awesome Cubit!!! You're almost there.

I wish I had some old clothes to fit into again. I got rid of ALL my
too small clothes in October. Most of them were out of style anyway ;p

I'm going to wait until June to buy new clothes, hopefully in *much*
smaller sizes. Then what I have now will likely go to the diabetes red
boxes like my old clothes.

I guess not having anything to fit into down the line is as good an
excuse to shop as any *grin*
