Bob M - 13 Feb 2005 17:56 GMT This kind, I'm not sure about. I had one set that I could not separate. The other set, however, was fine.
Tumaro's Gormet Tortillas
"Low in Carbs"
No partially hydrogenated oils listed. Canola oil is listed.
Calories 100 fat 2.5 g Carbs 13g Fiber 8g Protein 7g
To me, these don't taste as good as the other ones I posted (see a week or so ago), but I don't trust the other ones -- they taste too good to be true. These taste more fibrous and are fine from my perspective. Plus, they're a bit smaller, so I tend not to add as much stuff to them.

|| No wonder you're still fat. Just how does eating something that is low-carb, low-fat and just 100 calories supposed to make him fat?

tia - 14 Feb 2005 03:32 GMT eating 100 of them at a time?

Just because a bomb calorimeter can burn fiber doesn't mean the human body can.

If you ate nothing but these tortillas and ate 2,000 calories per day, that would be 100g of effective carbs per day. That's still "low carb" in my book, although you'd be eating 160 grams of fiber per day. Since I eat at most two of these per day (when I eat them, which is only periodically), that's 200 calories and 10 effective grams of carbs per day.
Let's face it, the more JC posts, the more we realize what an idiot he is. JC is merely here to inflame people. He was a bully as a child and never really outgrew 3rd grade. JC can't understand (even though he's fond of saying "eat less") that one can eat within one's goals and still have a tortilla. You can still "eat less" AND eat a tortilla.

Roger Zoul - 14 Feb 2005 17:23 GMT Those are about the same as the ones I eat (also with no transfats). I sometimes eat 4 per day, but still while holding calories to 1500 or so. It is definitely possible to lose weight with those in the diet. I can eat less and eat 4 tortillas. It's all a trade, though. LC is simply a tool to control appetite, BG, etc. As such, skillful use is important. I don't see why it needs to be a religion, however. Even JC knows that, though, for he goes LF on weekends.
Oh....LC toritllas are manna from God.

Actually, I think I have JC wrong -- he wasn't a bully in 3rd grade. Actually, he was bullied back then, so now he's trying to make up for it by being the bully.
Everything in life is a trade off. Because I'm writing this note, I'm not doing something else. If I eat a tortilla, then I can't (assuming same calorie level) eat green beans (or whatever). The keys to low carb are to ignore minor intransgressions, figure out what your trigger foods are and avoid them as much as possible, eat more (preferably raw) vegetables, and become creative during cooking. For those who exercise, find a balance between carb intake and exercise so that you're still low carb but also have enough energy for workouts.
By the way, it heated up to freezing this weekend, and I took 20 minutes off my ride time, which I think was due to not having a mask over my mouth.

I decided to just do more gym work - both cardio and lifting. However, hopefully, I'll be able to get some riding in soon.

How does he know what we're doing? I do a version of CKD when in training, although I don't find that a CKD is entirely necessary. I tend more to the TKD instead, although I also don't think that ketosis is necessary. And, I'm only working out 4 days a week now, so I really don't need either of these.
Let's face it, JC is a buttwipe. There's no reason to call people names, and basically every thread by him denigrates into that sooner or later. If he feels that we're all too fat and he's God's gift to bodybuilders, let him hang out at MFW for good.

The hardest part about biking in winter is buying the damn fancy clothes. They're expensive (especially GoreTex). I'm sure you'll get your riding in soon. The bad news from my perspective is that my biceps tendinitis (supposedly the prognosis, though I doubt this -- which I got trying to rehabilitate my partially torn rototor cuff muscle, sadly) isn't any better. When I did incline bench presses this past workout, I felt the exercise entirely in my right shoulder. That's too bad, as I'm a much better bodybuilder than a bike rider. I'm genetically gifted -- in terms of gaining muscle mass -- for bodybuilding, but I suck at biking.

And, I'm only working out 4 days a week now, > so I really don't need either of these. One can also just up the carb level to a place where exercise can be maintained. But some also find it easy to be minimal during the week (ie, diet hard) and relax on the weekends (eat more normally). Both approaches can work but only if executed faithfully. Some people tend to have personalities for being hard core, others don't. I sort of like being hard core, though.

Hmm...I bike because I enjoy it...so who cares about sucking at it? Yeah, I'd like to be faster...so I want to lose some more partly because of that...if you can get down to SC this summer, we can do a charity ride together. I think it would be cool for the asdlc folks to ride together.
I've been having some problems with my right knee lately. It seems to have started when doing the leg press in the gym...with really light weight, too. As an example, I was at a concert late night and it just started hurting...but once I stand up it quits. I was hurting again at dinner. By the time I got into bed it quit. It hasn't been a problem all day, today. But I don't really know what the deal is with it. I've been trying to ice it down once it starts up. It doesn't really seem to be the knee itself, though, but around there muscles and things connect into the knee. I'm going to see a doctor about it soon, too.
You should be happy to be genetically gifted for being a bodybuilder. I'd love to be able to claim that! Maybe you should go for 10% bf like JC suggests! :)
