I still have mixed feelings watching this Blaine guy on Fit TV. He'll have
a marathon on Monday I think.
He has a personality of an armchair. Which is why it seems to sell. Stella
does the same thing, although I can't stand him for whatever reason.
The food - Blain seems to be cooking up a storm, trying in some ways to re
create sweets and carb favorites. That approach is like making hot dogs
from soy. Making it look like you're still eating something you shouldn't
and getting away with it.
One thing is for sure. He seems to be eating well, and losing weight. Once
you learn to make the foods you can eat to your liking, you will be able to
eat well. As I do. And astonishingly the weight comes off.
Some of the recipes Blaine cooks are gross. I love Daikon radishes, but
his Daikon fries coated in soy flour sucked a large pumpkin the size of
JC's ego, through a garden hose. It was just bad. Again - he had tried to
make it look like it was something it is not.
So I'll reserve the ultimate judgment - which is - just turn it off, like
I did Stella, until it becomes too obvious.
I also hope he doesn't get poisoned commercially with money, like many of
them do on TV. Starting to push a certain product, and so on.
We'll see.
Best Regards,
Steve

Blaine has grown on me personality wise, but it's that quick hit and
run editing that I hate. He breezes through very complex mixtures of things
too fast. Who wants to make a sauce that takes 15 ingredients, 3 pieces of
equipment and 4 hours?
Stella cooks very simple stuff, that is easy to follow and make at
home. Plus Stella sent me a personal email a few weeks ago, so now he's my
buddy! LOL

I think both LC and Loving It and Blaine's LC Kitchen are both
excellent shows. I don't know by what standard you think Blaine's
recipes are so complex; I find them easy to average in required
difficulty and ingredients. I've yet to see anything that takes
anywhere near 4 hours, unless you're counting the time something like a
roast is in the oven. And those recipes are few and far between. And
just because he uses something like a large kitchen mixer to whip cream
doesn't mean you can't just do it with a hand held one. As for the
rate he goes through things, I find it about right. All the recipes
are available online, so there's no need to sit there and try to write
it down.
I'm amazed that some people can find silly faults and complain about
anything. Personally, I'm very happy that guys like Blaine and Stella
are out there coming up with great recipe ideas and showing how LC is
about eating good, healthy foods, not just steak and fat.

Oh great. Now you know someone famous :)
I can't take Stella. he almost reminds me of Mary Ann Esposito, the
Italian lady that looks like, well, Ernest Borgnine in drag. Naked on a
balcony with a glass of champagne, sucking on a strawberry with whipped
cream.
(Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.... Flashbacks!)
I did not need that visual! Did you?
What I'm saying is that the personality just outweighs the content. In
Blaine's case, like you said, the guy grows on you. His daddy is another
matter. That ole' boy got issues. I suppose it's more like where they're
from, and the accents and the like. I've traveled too much. I had enough.
Yikes!
And yes, I'm a bit picky. But then, so is the rest of the world.
One more thing about the food is that I had not really seen anything that
jumped out at me that I wanted to make. No brainers. Most of it. I've
learned very little from him so far. His "need" for sweets and pies and
torts and the like I also do not share. But I'll be watching this monday's
marathon. Maybe not all of it, but off and on. See if it will reform my
mind about him more.
Gimme mustard, and anchovies, or gimme death.

Steve
