A love affair with chips because they want to eat porkrinds? WOW, some
of you people are *scary* sometimes with all the analyzing.

Well, I *do* have a love affair with chips. I think it was a
reasonable point. Look, my getting into this low-carb thing is all
about breaking bad habits. One thing that's packed on the weight for me
over the past year is my candy-bar stress-eating. But that's a recent
habit, and one I think which will be fairly easy to break.
Chips, however, are another matter. Frito Lay has been my nemesis.
Doritos. Eeeevil. I think I'll give them a hiatus for the time being.

Good suggestion! I hadn't thought of it that way.
All right, I'll leave off the Baken-Ets.
I just did a shopping trip today. Bought celery, fresh basil,
mushrooms, some steak, some zero-carb, zero-calorie dressing,
sauerkraut, sardines, eggs, and mozarella cheese. That actually sounds
like a pretty healthy spread, doesn't it?

Good for you! My problem with chips and their ilk isn't necessarily
what's in them, it's the niche they fill, that brainless munching when
you aren't even hungry. Better not to do that at all, even if the chip
or chiplike substance is low-carb.

At that point, you are better off with a hunk of cheese. I keep roquefort.
And Brie. Totally mouth feel things. When your mouth begs for something you
can't have, grab a piece of strong cheese or the like and sit, and savor
it.
It is caloric. Lesser of the evils in my opinion.

Yeah, it sounds GREAT except for the zero-calorie dressing. You have
to wonder about ingredients of a salad dressing that has NO calories --
clearly it's not oil-based. Not that you HAVE to use oil in salad
dressing. I like to use guacamole, alfredo sauce or punjab spinach
sauce (Trader Joe's) for dressing, myself (well, mostly I use the
punjab sauce when I choose to stir-fry the salad instead of having it
cold).

I'll post the brand and the ingredients in the dressing later tonight.
I studied it closely for any sugars (none except sucralose). It was a
little franken-foody but I kind of wanted something different than oil
and vinagrette that night.

That sounds much like my own shopping basket.
Get a bowl and fill it with quartered mushrooms, and celery chunks.
Portabellas are incredible like this. I also like asparagus. Add a handful
of mozzarella. Drizzle good olive oil on top, and red wine vinegar. Mix.
Let it stand, if you can, for a couple minutes. Add a can of sardines on
top.
Low carb heaven.
