My moms club had the End of Year dinner last night at a Chinese Buffet (ick)
and it was fun, and I controlled myself. I didn't eat any desserts, stayed
away from all noodles, wontons, eggrolls, sushi, rice, etc. I did have some
veggies and meat that were in brown sauces that should probably have been
avoided and I feel like I am full of sodium but overall I did good :o)

I had piles of crab legs :o)

Then when others were having dessert i had a plate of olives, a hard boiled
egg and one of those hot green peppers (pepperoncino?). I figured if i ate a
hot pepper my mouth would not be so interested in chocolate cake. I also
figured the desserts there probably looked ok buy wouldn't taste so good.
Buffet places are pretty nasty in general and the food isn't so good. I
would've picked some place else for the dinner but it worked out nicely
enough, we had our own room and all.

Then my friend found a bug (roach? i didn't see it) in her egg drop soup -
ewwww - and the place only wanted to take 1% off the bill! I wasn't handling
things or I would've made a scene!

There were 17 of us there and we raised $400 for a charity that helps
mothers and families in need.

Oh sh.t....so you all ate bugs, huh?  Good source of protein, I hear.

Yup -- definitely low carb!

i didn't have the soup but having worked in Manhatten for years I am really
not grossed out by that. Sometimes you just ignore the fact that it's the
sleaziest roachy place with a fly-strip hanging overhead because it's the
*best* falafel in the village - LOL.

I get more grossed out thinking about the bodily fluids that may be in
there - ew.
