Mouth May Have a 6th Sense for Fatty Foods

So... four "traditional" tastes, plus umami, and now fat. And some
suggest that we also have a receptor that detects "soapiness" in foods.

I'm pretty sure I have a single-malt detector.

Thanks for posting this.  DH says it's the mouthfeel of the fat, but it
has a distinctive taste, whether butter or shortening.

Oh, I KNOW *I* have a sense to detect soapiness on my tongue.  I get it
when I'm near the soap aisle at the grocery store.  It's AWFUL!

Never :-)  It does bring to mind Ralphie from "A Christmas Story",
though, and his preference for Lux :-)
