Two quick and reliable suggestions:

Wendy's or other burger spots
Order a cheeseburger and eat it minus the bun with a side cesaer
salad, skip the croutons

Fried Chicken, anywhere, just peel off the batter crust and the
chicken is fine

Take along some cheese....

In-N-Out has a "protein burger"  which comes wrapped in lettuce.

Denny's has low carb breakfast items, the last time I looked.

Take along some hard boiled eggs....

Pretty much any burger place has low carb food.  Ditch the bun,
no fries.  If possible get extra leaves and such especially if they
have whole leaves like the "protein style" above that uses the
leaves as the bun.

> Denny's has low carb breakfast items, the last time I looked.

True of nearly any breakfast place in America.  Omlette with
plenty of veggies in it, sub tomato slices instead of hash browns,
ignore the toast.

Other fast food - If you can find a chicken place that offers
rotesserie or cooked over an open flame rather than deep fried,
go for it.  Boston Market, El Pollo Loco, plenty of small chains.

During the low carb popularity, a local restaurant chain made "low carb
breakfasts" by substitution of tomato slices for potatos, and charged
$1.00 more for the low carb breakfast than the regular one.

I never went back. I hate to get ripped off.

Any burger or cheeseburger, with at least 4 oz of meat, without the
fries and the drink is fairly equal to the Zone ratio.

Carl's Jr has a "6 Dollar" LC burger wrapped in lettuce, no bun.  And a
breakfast thing - egg, sausage, cheese, no bread.  I have not tried the
latter.

Jack in the Box has several salads.  I think KFC has some grilled chicken,
but haven't tried it.

Stick to salads and burgers without buns. Diet pop and nothing with any
breading on it (of course no fries) and don't let ANYONE tell you to "avoid
fast food". It's not unhealthy if you eat it right -without carbs. I lost
about 60 pounds when I first started Atkins and I ate fast food once or
twice a day sometimes. For breakfast I'd have 2 sausage, egg and cheese from
BK without the croissant, lunch would be a few double cheese no bun, and I'd
make some kind of meat for dinner keeping it all low carb. After six months
of this I got blood work and my LDL and Triglycerides were both WAY low. I
think the triglycerides were about 88 and the LDL was 90.  Tell me one of
these tofu eating bean sprout loving low fat dieters can hang with that.
Whatever. That Super Size me moron can shove it. I don't need some yahoo
with a camcorder to tell me what's healthy, thank god Dr Atkins did that
when nobody else would. I only regained after starting to cheat more and
more with carbs, but I'm back on track and of course it's working again.
Fast food is not only fine, it's cheap, easy, fast and good. Just keep away
from fries, breading, and sugar and you'll be good to go.

Stay away from anything with transfat. That generally means nothing fried.

Cracker Barrel has nice low-carb menus, both breakfast and other meals.  Not
exactly fast food, but I thought I'd mention it anyway since I was there
last night. :)

Thanks for that!
There is one near me and I've never been there.

If I eat breakfast out (which is seldom) I generally  just hit the
buffets as I can choose only low carb items that way. ;-)

Shoney's all you can eat breakfast bar and all you can eat seafood-feast
dinners.  Avoid the carb selections and stick with the sausage, bacon and
eggs, or for dinner the meat or fish with a salad.

A favorite of mine is Hardee's fast food.  They have a low carb breakfast
bowl that is very yummy and they have a burger wrapped in lettuce that is
very good sirloin beef.

The McDonald's "Side Salad" for $1 is good and be sure to avoid the
higher carbohydrate Newman's Own Salad Dressing... Ranch is, I think,
the high carb one.  Ceasar Salad Dressing is, I believe, lower carb.

There's a book that deals with how make the best of fast food on a LC
diet. It's available at www.lowcarbfastfooddiet.com. I would tell you
how it is but it hasn't come in the mail yet. :(

Bet there isn't any. Even if you buy a Jumbo Jack and discard everything
but the patty, I bet you're getting a few grams of carb from fillers
they mix in with the meat.

Anybody know for sure?

POPEYE's has Blackened Naked Chicken Strips. They come with a biscuit
which is easily pitched, or even left at the counter. 3g carbs for 3
strips and VERY flavorful. Very good.

You're better off making your own meals. However, I usually eat wraps at
d'angelos, quiznos, or Subway. Their low-carb options are wonderful.
