Noticed yesterday that the supermarket here in NJ that always carried
Edy's Grand Carb Benefit line of ice cream no longer has it. I think
this was sold by the same company that makes Dreyer's that;s available
in other areas. Wondering if it's being discontinued.
Anyway, anyone else notice either of these going missing?

I'm in NY and there's never been an Edie's carb benefit, just Edie's no
sugar added. I've found that some of the regular Edie's ice creams
(coffee, mint choc chip) are almost as low carb as the no sugar added stuff.
Have you tried Turkey Hill Carb IQ? It's excellent taste and texture.

I've tried TH, and it's my last choice. I didn't think the taste was
that good and whatever SA they put in it, it's the only one that gives
me digestive issues. The Edy's IMO is the best tasting. Breyer's is
OK too. The Ben & Jerry's were awful, but they quit awhile ago.

And I think the Breyer's is the absolute worst for flavor and that awful
texture. Just goes to show how tastes differ. I've never had gastric
reactions to SA's, and I eat ice cream about a couple of times per
month, so it's NBD for me. I agree that Edie's is very good.

I've never even seen it.....
Blue Bunny low carb is decent.
I only indulge in a small amount 2 or 3 times per year tho'.
I don't like to awaken my sweet tooth. ;-)

I don't know about Edy's, but I can suggest a better alternative. Go
to WalMart and buy a snow-cone machine for about $20. You can make
snow cones or shaved ice from ice cubes in 15 seconds. And buy some
Davinci or Torani SF syrups. (you can get them a number of places
online, I just bought a case of twelve 750ml bottles for $57, more
than a six months supply for me). These syrups are sweetened with
Splenda rather than the SA crap in the "low-carb" ice cream. I find
that these snow cones and/or flavored shaved ices satisfy the
cold/sweet tooth even better than ice cream does, and they have
virtually zero calories and carbohydrates. A you can eat a second one
if you want to without feeling guilty like you do with the ice cream!

Well, that's the problem...some folks like the guilt that comes after eating
ice cream. Or, maybe they just like the ice cream! Six is one, half dozen
the other. :)

I doubt if I eat it even once per month. I've given up too many vices
to feel guilty over an occasional ice cream. :-)

And an important factor is how much you eat. I usually use a scoop
with something like strawberries or blueberries.
BTW, I now have some Turkey Hill Peanut Butter Cup sitting in the
fridge. If I wind up running to the bathroom, its gonna be all your
fault. :)

Ooh, it's good, but if you can find the Fudge Tracks, it's even better!
BTW, walk, don't run. ;-)

Running burns more calories! :)

I think he may need a tad longer running track than the one from couch
to potty. ;-P

Eat more, run more!

In California, the Dreyer's Carb Benefit has disappeared at Safeway, and
there are just a few left at Albertson's. Recently, the ice cream was old
and stale. Opening the carton I would find that it had shrunk down an inch
from the top of the carton, the surface was dryish and gooey, and the ice
cream had a crunchiness to it.

But you ate it anyway.

LOL Yup. I ran hot water over the surface in the carton to remove the
crappy part. Microwaving the servings in the bowls helped reduce the
crunchiness.
