I doubt McD's was gonna give him a platform to peddle low-fat.

It won't last long.....McD won't let its business dry up with boring low-fat
food, and Americans certainly won't listen.

Don't underestimate the marketing value.  Low fat on the menu to
get them in the door.  Junk on the menu that they actually buy
when the money comes out.

None will likely go in there for low fat food and then buy junk due to
advertizing.  I go in there for low carb food and never buy junk.  Those who
do LF are probably already going in there and getting LF foods and they
might pick up some more due to advertizing.  But it's still McDs.

Also interesting besides no mention of low fat is that even the whole
foods comes as the last thing on the list, after stress reduction,
exercise, and group support.  Very strange for Dr. Ultra Low Fat!

Actually, it's not strange at all, if you've ever read his books or
studies.  All of those things were part of his program, he never studied
diet alone.

Yes, you are very right.

Some argue that since his studies changed about four (4) major lifestyle
elements while they changed the diet to ultra low-fat, that his
popularized conclusion of the benefit of ultra-low fat isn't actually
proven by the studies.

This is because there are actually about 5 variables involved, and not
just the variable of dietary fat content.

It has been stated in diet reviews that in medical professional
journals, Dr. Dean Ornish is careful to make full mention of all of the
variables and the consequences.

In writings for the general population, however, is where he discounts
the importance of any other of the study variables (or completely
ignores them), and focuses only on the very low fat content.

This seems to be a form of deliberate remarkable dishonesty.

On the other hand, amateur dietary scientists manage to remain unaware
of the scientific method and limitations.

In the diet area, it is damned hard to really prove anything with eating
styles, and people capable of lying about what they actually eat - if
not confined and monitored 24/7. And that is darned expensive to do.
