I'm being tested for allergies and other gastrointestinal issues and will be
on an elimination diet for 2 weeks. Has anyone else managed to do this when
there is a husband and young child in the family? I work fulltime and don't
want to make two meals every night but this diet is very restrictive. I
suppose I could do a lot of cooking and freezing for them and they just have
to reheat. I can at least cook steam veg or serve salad.

CAN EAT:
fruit (except orange), vegetables (except tomato), rice, meat, chicken,
fish,
bean/legumes, nuts, fresh veg juices, herbal teas, all salts & spices,
little apple cider vinegar, olive oil, ghee

CAN'T EAT:
dairy of any sort, egg, soy, processed meats, no gluten (barley, rye, oats,
wheat), peanuts, caffeine, sugar, yeast, artificial flavourings, additives,
preservatives

There's a lot more in both categories but that's the gist. I know I could
eat grilled meat and salad for two weeks or veg/bean soup but I hate
repetitive foods. Anyone got any quick and easy food ideas that cover my
requirements? Lunch at work is particularly difficult for me - any ideas? I
will be surrounded by loads of people eating all the things I can't.

seems you have a huge variety righ tthere - why would you have to make 2
meals a night? make any kind of meat or fish with any veg and a salad. then
for hubby and kids make an added starchy thing like potato or rice or pasta
salad (if you can't eat those) you can give them bottled dressing on the
side for salad  if they don't like oil & vinegar. if you can't use much
vinegar use lemon juice with oil on salad.

you don't have to grill meat always - you can roast, bake, braise, fry,
boil, stir fry, pot roast - seems like your choices really aren't so
limited.

lunches can be leftovers or salads with meat (like grilled chicken caser
salad or use leftover steak or salmon or shrimp - etc) you can make bean
soup, bring fruit. now i see you can eat rice - you can make stir frys over
rice, all kinds of stuff.

What kind of food do you usually eat? unless you were just eating pizza, ice
cream, hot dogs, egg salad, pasta and mcdonalds I don't see how this diet is
too restrictive. Good luck.
