No, it wasn't me who had the lunch interview with Jared (Subway) Fogel.

It was Morgan Spurlock of "Supersize Me" and "Don't Eat this Book: Fast
Food & the Supersizing of America." The book is OK, what I read of it.

Jared Fogel is the guy who went from 425 lbs to 192 lbs in a yearlong
Subway sandwich eating plan (2 six inch subs per day plus diet soda).
Over 230 pounds lost.

Spurlock interviewed Fogel.

Jared is described as a kind of a nerdy, geeky guy who somehow became a
media star.

.... "But you don't have to tak to him for more than 10 minutes to
realize that Subway's 'healthy' food had little to do with it. Jared
Fogel lost weight the old fashioned way. After a lifetime of serious
overeating, he put himself on a strict diet. He went on a program of
draconian restricted calorie reduction and exerted a tremendous amount
of will power to stick with it. He significantly increased his level of
physical activity. He changed a lifetime of bad habits, bad attitudes
and unhealthy behaviors. He owes his success to self-discipline, not to
a six inch sub and a diet coke...."

...."He massively reduced his food intake to a daily regeimen of 2
Subway low fat six inch sandwiches and a couple of diet Cokes"

....."The fact that it was 2 of Subway's sandwiches is immaterial. He
chose Subway because there was an outlet very nearby."

He went on to talk about needing to eat moderately.

"Diets are short term, lifestyle change is the long term" is how he
quotes Jared Fogel.

So, it is "easy".

All you need is draconian willpower. Well, a lot of motivation too.
Plus some increased exercise.
Plus enough internal fortitude to change much of your attitudes and
behaviors of life and food.

Yeah, but the marketing folks will never let you use that in a book
title.

New from Amazon.com! "The Draconian Willpower Diet, 2nd Ed"

Yes, but imagine a nationwide chain called "The Diet Dungeons : The
Original Draconian Willpower Diet".

We would get most of our business from "concerned people that believe
that if Ms. YYY only had willpower, she could lose that weight."

So, the deal would be for these "concerned people" to buy guest
memberships in "The Diet Dungeon" for their weak willpowered overweight
friends.
