Hi from sunny England.
I've really enjoyed your posts, and learnt a lot.
I'm on a general LC WOE - in maintenance having
lost all I want to. I've been invited out for an
Indian meal tonight, and can't find any advice
about what's LC and what's not. Can anyone
advise / point to any web resources?
Keep up the good work.
B.

Just about any curry except a biriani is low carb. It's the rice and breads
that's to be avoided!

Nicky, also from the UK, and a curry fan : )

I love curry chicken!  Actually I love most any meat spiced with curry.  My
wife jokes that there must be something in curry powder that my body needs,
because I love it so much :-)

Turmeric, the yellow colour in curry, is a fantastic anti-inflammatory,
particularly if you eat it with some ground black pepper. Cloves and
cinnamon both help in regulating blood glucose. Chillies help to regulate
appetite. What's not to love in there? : )

Nicky.

I love curry, too, and was adding it to soup a few days ago.  I'm
talking about 1/4-1/2 tsp per day.  I did this for several days in a row
... until I realized that the curry smell was coming out of my pores and
giving me some rather intense BO :-(  DAMN!

So you're going to start with the prevarications right away?

Don't worry about it, Ben.  One meal isn't going to amount to
anything of consequence.

Enjoy your night out!

If you're on maintenance you already know how to estimate
the carbiness of a dish base don what's in it, right?  Apply
that skill of yours and you won't have a problem.

Lots of Indian food styles have meat and veggies.  Others
already mentioned the rice and bread, so I'll mention the
types of veggies they use.  Cauliflower and other low carb
types.  Peas, lentils and other legume types - on maintenance
you'll know your limit.  Potatoes are the most common
root-like veggie so consider pushing the chunks to the side.

Maybe they will have goat - The other red meat.  Yum.
