Hello all,
I have started today my LC adventure. I did do some in the past and must say
I had some results but I did not stick with it for some reason. This time I
am serious but need everybody's help and support. :)
This is my last chance before surgery.

Giulian,
Like you, this is my second time around, and like you, I realized that I had
better get serious if I planned on getting things back under control before
extreme measures would be needed. I'm also a newbie, since I only got back
in the saddle at the beginning of April.
My response will without a doubt be overly simplistic and may miss the mark
completely, because I don't know what factors came into play for you to gain
the weight in the first place, but I have a couple thoughts that might be
helpful to keep in mind. My weight and fitness situation took a few years to
arrive at , and I got it straight in my head that it would be unrealistic
for that to change overnight. With that in mind, I don't put presure on
myself to hit a goal everyday. What I weigh a year from now is much more
important than what I weight a week from now. If I should slip up, and I
did once in the last month due to my anniversary, I will immediately jump
right back into induction the next morning and will try not to look back. I
have the rest of my life to eat and feel the way I choose to , and it's my
choice, no one else's. My choices got me here, and my choices can also get
me out.
Another thing I find helpful is to set realistic goals, rather than to shoot
for the moon and feel like I've failed if I don't reach it. I considered my
lifestyle and activity level as best as I could, and I think that has helped
me to hit my modest weekly goal of roughly 4lbs/week. Each Sunday for the
last 5 weeks or so, I've been able to put a check in the 'did it' column,
and that's a big motivator for me.
It's your life, and all things being equal, you can do this. Try not to
waste your time worrying about the dietary mistakes that got you here, get
excited about the amazing changes that can happen over the next few
days/weeks/months!

It may be best to do some serious thinking and figure out what that
"some reason" was. That way, you can design things differently this
time so that the reason you went off last time won't get you again.
Maybe you viewed it as a temporary diet last time, this time think of it
as a way of eating for life. Or maybe you let little slips lead to
bigger slips and then to outright giving up, which may mean you need to
be stricter with yourself than you'd anticipated, and not even allow
yourself little slips. Maybe you had some kind of major stress and used
that as an excuse to go back to carbs. Whatever it was, figure it out
now so it won't trip you up again.
