Hi there,
I know that apples have quite a lot of carbs but are they good or bad or
neutral? :)
I really love apples and well is eating an apple a day a problem when
doing lowcarb? Are there differences in suit and sour apples or does
anyone know some sorts of apples with less carbs?
I do low-carb not for loosing weight, just for health, trying to not get
over 60-70g per day (lutz recommendation).
Greetings,
Daniel

I think a medium apple averages 34 grams of carb, some of which is fiber.
Why not just work it into your plan, maybe not eating the whole thing?

My thing is oranges. I've been eating blueberries, strawberries and
raspberries with abandon since starting LC over a year ago, but I miss
oranges. I'm just so fearful of high-carb foods these days. I must like
being skinny.

I've eaten a couple of oranges lately, a medium one has 22 net carbs, that
certainly can fit into a 50 g/day program on occasion.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away".

If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, 4-5 servings of assorted
low veggies must keep the whole profession in the poorhouse. ;^)
As long as it fits in your quota, you don't have a problem with its
glycemic load and you don't have any binge issues with them,
all is well.

If you are keeping a record of what you eat, you
can experiment with fitting apples in. Just be
mindful of them at first in case they cause some
sort of negative consequence.

I occasionally have half an apple (I try not to have more than 3 oz a
day). As long as they fit into your budget for the day (and don't take
up your ENTIRE budget), they aren't bad. I like to cut them up, mix
them with plain yogurt from Trader Joe's, and add Splenda and cinnamon
-- YUMMY!

I do that too, Saffire. Oh, and a tablespoon or two of ground flaxseed
and a bit of cinnamon and vanilla makes it a great breakfast. AS if I
feel I need it.
I'll usually have just a half of an apple or orange, even though my
carb level is pretty high. I just wrap the remainder in plastic wrap
and save for the next day.
