I used to use the ......foreign one ;) I'm sure you know which one I
mean. Was it dutch or something? Before that I used my isp one.
However, the free one stopped being free, and my current isp doesn't
have one, so I'm having to use google, which sucks big time :(

Anyone know of any decent free ones about?

Thanks

No, no DECENT free ones.

I just bought giganews for $12.50 per month last month and I have yet to
regret it...

Just remember that you get what you pay for.

I pay about $54 every 6 months for a dialup account I've kept for several
years.  It comes in handy for when we're travelling or when the cable goes
down...but I use it mostly for usenet access.  Less expensive than most
stand-alone usenet accounts, and has unlimited data transfer.  Another
option you might consider, if you can't find a decent free one.

For a while when my RoadRunner service usenet service sucked I used
www.usenetmonster.com
for 2.95/mo  it was great but after I switched my isp to Earthlink I am
using their usenet.
But I would have no qualms about going back to usenetmonster.
