Fiber question

I was using Trader Joe's Psyllium Husks ... if I recall, 3 tablespoons = 15
grams.

Recently, I picked up a tub of GNC refined husks, and figured it was about
the same. So, I was using 3 heaping tablespoons in a glass of water.

Wrong! 1 teaspoon = about 5 grams of fiber. A heaping tablespoon is about 17
grams...

Is it a bad thing to consume about 50 grams of fiber at once?

Thanks!

Have you noticed a problem yet?  I suggest drinking lots and lots of
water....

It is often stated that it is better to gradually increase fiber intake (you
probably know that, but others may be reading).

Are you not getting fiber from veggies, since we're on the topic?

Cut back to 2 tablespoons, and have been doing that for a few weeks now.  I
do eat some veggies, and salads, but not enough to meet the MDR.
Haven't really noticed any effects from the 30 grams or better I do in the
mornings... my system seems to be more "politely" regular (nice way of
saying I no longer have to go potty 4 and 6 times a day) than when I was
strung out on carbs :)

Thanks for the reply...
Regards,
Dave

Yes, 'going' less is considered a benefit by some, while others seem to be
put off by it.  Good you're not strung out any longer! :)
