Here is the senario:   Its 830 at night, she has reached her calorie
and carb count in both for maintaining weight.  She has a choice a
slice of smart beat cheese at 25 calories with 5 grams carb, or reg.
cheese 90 calories with less than one gram carb.  This is the question
she threw at me, what should she choose providing the answer says dont
eat , because she is gonna eat one or the other .  She has reached both
cal and carb limit so whats the best damage control?

The best damage control is for her to go brush her teeth and use a
mouthwash. After swilling that stuff around, she won't even feel hungry at
all!

I disagree.  Eat something like cheese with protein and fat.  If I go to bed
hungry or wake up hungry in the night I will have trouble sleeping, if I
don't get enough sleep I am hungry all the next day.  Brushing my teeth
doesn't make me not hungry.

Ah, but the OP didn't say she was hungry! She just said she was planning to
eat something, anything! That's the difference.  If you gargle that
mouthwash stuff it will kill the desire to eat when you're not hungry. It's
not the brushing of the teeth--it's the terrible mouthwash that does it.

I guess I didn't think she would be eating anything unless she was hungry.

The OP posted the scenario twice - the first time the person was hungry -
the second time it didn't say.

Either way, a piece of cheese probably won't satisfy her for very long.
I drink a low carb (1gm) protein drink (not 100% whey) with a little
coconut oil before I go to bed. That always satisfies me until morning.

A small piece of beef jerky might work - it would take time to eat it and
the flavor would stay

cup of ice water, cup of hot tea
and a stick of string cheese.
Or a cucumber, sliced, topped with herbs.
Or cucumber slices, topped with slivers of cheese, topped with herbs.

(string cheese is 80 cal mozzerella, less than 1 carb)

If you take a minute to fix a plate with the cuc and cheese, you can
feel you are getting something more. It takes more time to eat, when if
you are eating it slower, you will feel more as if you've consumed
substance, than if you just wolf down a piece of cheese.

the main question she had was if at her limits of both carbs and
calories do you go for low carb or lower cal with more carb, she was
alread over so and was going to eat.  So need what would be best for
the sake of damage control.

If you are strictly controlling carbs, then you should be more relaxed
about calories anyway.  For this reason, and because I personally
prefer natural foods ("smart beat" sounds like a processed diet product
- apologies if I'm mistaken) then I would opt for the regular cheese.
