Best 'George Foreman' Style Grill On The Market?

Dean S. Lautermilch? ???? - 27 Nov 2003 21:18 GMT My George Foremen grill is getting a bit old. I like it except for the way it leaks onto the countertop at times. It is also a pain to clean at times.
Being that Friday is going to be a big sale day, I was wondering what the best Foreman style grill is on the market? Anyone happy with a particular make or model? Price is not an issue since I use it so much.

Its has the double sided grill, a cake pan/skillet plate, double sided pizelle maker, smooth double sided griddle plates, and double sided waffle plates,. look at EBay for a used one or maybe there are still a few new out there!

I have found that the best way to clean a Foreman grill is to do it immediately, while it is still hot. I use a wad of paper towels and wipe it down thoroughly. After it has cooled, I use a soapy sponge several times and then rinse it completely with a damp sponge, again several times. I found that if I waited until it was cool to do the clean-up, when I tried to scrape the food remnants, they splattered all over my counter and some of it was difficult to remove from the grill, even with the scraper that it comes with. Hope this helps.

As soon as you are done cooking, leave it plugged in and grab a couple of paper towels. Run them under the faucet and squeeze the water out, but not all of it -- you want it dripping a little. Wipe it down with the damp towels and it will all come right up.
I use my Foreman grill almost every night. I don't see how I could be on LC without it.

I clean it the way you are not supposed to but it works great. I unplug it, open it, put it in the sink and use the spray nozzle. I give it a quick rinse with the spray nozzle then I use a sponge or scrubbie/brush and some soap, rinse quickly with the spray nozzle again, tip over to drain, and leave it open to dry.
I have been doing this for 2 years and it still works and looks great. I use it almost daily and have even used it camping to toast bagels for my daughter.

last year my wife and i bought one of the george foreman rotisseries. its a great way to cook for two people, maybe three. fairly easy cleanup and cooks just about anything evenly and without any extra grease. we use it for fish, pork, and beef. I have not tried hot dogs or hamburgers in it, but would bet they come out really nice as well.

I'm not sure just how big you want it, but I'm very happy with the Double Champion grill. It's really big (200 square inches cooking area), but I like to cook big batches and freeze leftovers. This will cook 11-12 burgers or chicken breasts at once. Works great for me, but this is not the kind of thing you'll leave hanging around the kitchen (unless you have a huge kitchen). I also have a smaller model (The Champ, I think) for when I need a quick meal for 1 or 2.

I hardly ever ued my George Foreman grill, now I use mine every day -- only because someone here at ASDLC posted a really, really easy way to clean it. There's a nifty "trick to it!"
While the grill is still very hot, saturate a few paper towels with cold water. Put the wet paper towels on the bottom plate and close the grill. (It will steam like crazy). Walk away and eat or do whatever. After the grill has completely cooled, you can now very easily wipe it clean with clean, dry or damp paper towels. (The steamy wet towels absorbed and emulsified teh worst of the grease, and softened any hard particles). It works so well that I couldn't believe it the first time I tried it! No scrubbing at all, just wiping. If you forget and turn off the grill before doing this, simply plug it in, let it get hot again, then put the wet paper towels on it, close it, and wait for it to cool.
Make sure you have your little plactic drain pan thingy under the edge or you'll have a mess as the steam liquifies the grease and it runs out.

The Hamilton Beach Meal Maker Express has *removeable* grill plates - so they can be washed in the sink or dishwasher. Kalish Thanks for the suggestion -- but I just got one for less than half that price. I won an e-bay auction for the HB Meal Maker Express (brand new in box) for $21.48! Can't wait to get it! :-D

Grill plates are removeable and easily cleanable. The drip pan is also easy to use and clean.
Has timer... once you figure out the settings you like, produces very nice grilled meats. Turns off when the timer goes off.
I love it and will be grilling with it again tonight.

I went to the company website and found out that Home Depot carries some of the models. I'll go tomorrow as well as Brandsmart. I do a lot of meats except for steak in my George Foreman at this time. For steak, I got a DeLonghi (sic) which is a very high quality toaster style oven that broils. It does a very good job.
Obsidian - 28 Nov 2003 19:30 GMT I purchased a double unit off of Shopping Network (in Canada) over six months ago. Its a great unit. I believe it is called the George Foreman Double Knock Out Grill. It's a great thing to have.
As for cleaning these Georgy grills, I find that it's NOT best to let the grill cool. I get great results cleaning when the grills are still not with a damp clothe I'm willing to ruin and throw out.

See they have a new one now in Sears...about $40
