TOO much weight loss?

Hi Folks,

What started as a goal to cut out "white" food has really led me to eat
healthier than ever!  In the process I lost twenty pounds in about 6
weeks.  Yeessss it's GREAT and I'm shocked to see a little person (me)
when forever I was the "big-boned girl."  Ha.

But now I am being told by all and sundry that I look "too thin" am
"skin n bones" etc.  Honestly, I'm not - there is still lots of junk in
the trunk :) I eat about 1800 cals a day with about 150g of carbs and
about 50-75g of fiber.  Today I weighed about 114, which essentially is
a weight that hasn't changed in 2 months.  I'm 5'3" so I think I'm
doing ok.

My question is simple (??) - what can I do to bulk up a little?  I work
out with weights at the gym, and I think I'm eating enough all around,
but my concern is once I add back some of the villians in my diet I
will be back to where I started.  I eat loads of dairy (ricotta,
mostly) and indulge in the bad stuff occasionally (mashed potatoes at
Thanksgiving, for example).  I can't imagine more calories are the
answer, so maybe it's in the *quality* of the calories?

Is there a happy medium?

Google the cyclical ketogenic diet.  If you eat enough during the carb up
phase of this diet, you can add bulk.

Or you can ask Roger Zoul.  He's been adding bulk while following a low carb
diet for years.

I shouldn't worry about the bulking up bit - just carry on with the weights.
You've lost a lot of weight quickly, you need to leave a bit of time for
people to get used to the new you and maybe for stuff to rearrange itself a
little.

As for the diet - what you're doing sounds OK; are you happy you're getting
enough veggies, and enough variety?

Nicky.

Charlene..... i have to agree with Nicky.....
people are used to seeing the 'you' that they
know....... i was a size 6 for most of my adult
life to date, and got told all the time that i was
too skinny........ well, i was thin width wise,
but i was deep ! !  and carried a lot more weight
than what people guessed......

now, i have the opposite problem.... people don't
think i'm too skinny anymore ! ! !

I do eat my veggies and they're a big part of my fiber intake.  You
might be right - I pretty much held a constant weight for the last 10
yrs or so and this IS a big difference for me.  I ebayed and donated my
old clothes (it's not funny wearing clothes too big - really makes you
look dowdy) so I'm in no rush to replace my new wardrobe. :)

Thanks, all - and happy Christmas!
