As I let maintenance lead me astray, I thought bananas might be a good
choice for a carb.  My grandmother used to talk about the potassium in them.
I like bananas, and they can be very convenient (by coming with a natural
protective wrapper/peel).  HOWEVER, in the re-kindling of carb cravings, I
think bananas were a serious cause of trouble.

This time I'm not going to go bananas.

1 medium 7.5" long bananna is about 27grams of carbs.

bananas are supposed to be pretty bad as far as effecting blood sugar.
usually a half banana is the recommended serving if you are watching carbs
or avoiding sugar. i would suggest strawberries.

If you're going that far, who needs the strawberries?  ;-)

They're very high glycemic and not a better source of K than meat, fish,
shellfish, avocados...

The Banana Council must have the best marketing department in history.
They're almost nothing but bags of sugar, but people talk about them
like they're a multi-vitamin that grows on trees.  I've even heard
them called "the perfect food."  I guess it goes to show: if you
repeat something in enough commercials, people will eventually believe
it.

According to the USDA website, a cup of brocolli has almost as much
potassium as a medium banana.
