An article about a series of studies indicating genetic's role in type II
diabetes:

y_on_diabetes/

Perhaps this is why some people can eat high carb and not have any
deleterious effects, while others (like me) cannot.

This ain't new to me, I've always thought that diabetes was based mainly in
genetics.  But I also think that there are many, many diabetes who are made
due to the current processed food supply and lack of exercise.

I think T2 has a lot to do with genetics but processed food and
lack of exercise make it hard to overcome the genetic component.
A proper diet and exercise can delay or reduce the impact.

I agree with that.  All the females in my family, mother, grandmothers,
etc.....they were/are all diabetic.  On Insulin.  I was the only one who
hadn't developed it yet.  That's why it's so strange that after gastric by
pass that I started  having symptoms of it.  They call it reactive
hyper/hypoglycemia though and most likely will subside at some point.  My T2
is fine though, not sure I agree with the accuracy of those blood tests
though.  It's thought by some that fibromyalgia may be a symptom of
undiagnosed hypothyroidism.
