It seems ALL entries using Google for "Glycemic Index" reveal BOOKS,
Videos and other things for SALE.
Their does not seem to be any good resources for people needing a
giant list of foods. I would like to take great care with my Glycemic
Index but I do not want to spend $100's

Anyone know of a place on the web where A LOT of people go to get
started with looking into the Glycemic Index?

Like I said, Google has PLENTY of results but 2/3rds are people
sellings Books and Videos. It's akin to selling me a book on how to do
push-ups.

Thanks.

Good advice.  For me - I try to just avoid foods that I have to even
wonder about.  :)

So typos and misspellings have been my problem all along?

Good thing Emergency Rooms don't go by these rules. Millions would die
every year.

Guess I found the non-diet diet newsgroup.

Myra had some good advice there.  Also, GI and GL are two different related
things.  My reply had nothing to do with spelling or typos.

What are you talking about?  There's a difference between a food's
ranking on the glycemic index and its actual glycemic load, and I was
just acknowledging that to Cubit.  Go look up both terms, and you'll
see that for yourself.

Oh, and I don't play the spelling/grammar game.

Maybe they should.  "Correctly spelled cheesecake - or DEATH?"

Many long-term low carbers consider it a way of life, not a diet.
YMMV, although I have to wonder why someone who refers to him/herself
as a "Worthless Person" even bothers.

Perhaps YOU ALL should CHANGE the name of the NEWSGROUP??
Buddy'sGirl - 22 Sep 2007 04:00 GMT
not to get involved in another "war"...have you tried simply typing in
glycemic index in the search bar on www.ask.com?  This sent me to several
sites, one of which not only gave glycemic index values. but info/facts.

If this was a legit request I can look and see if I still have the websites
addresses.

That sentence is my favorite reply by the way, I always expect it. I
almost feel lost without it being said.

Thanks for the attempt, #1 I found already and it was a tiny list I
found, but thanks.

If you hear it a lot, perhaps it's true?  Just a thought.

I haven't followed a GI or GL diet, but from what people have said
here, I think a problem with them is that a given food doesn't always
have the same glycemic effect on all people.  As I understand it, the
whole point of eating low-GI/GL foods is to prevent spikes in blood
sugar, and that varies from person to person.  So rather than basing
your diet on a list of foods, you may need to get a blood glucose
tester and measure the effects of different foods on your BG.  The
lists you've already found can get you started, but for long-term
success you may have to fine-tune it according to your own reactions
to foods.
