Breyers makes a good low carb ice cream, but it is sometimes hard to
find now. You can always make your own. This recipe is from Louise:

1 egg
1/3 cup Splenda
1 teaspoon vanilla (I use Spice Islands)
1 1/2 cups whipping cream

Mix egg and Splenda together really well until thick and creamy. Stir
in vanilla and whipping cream. Put in ice cream maker and have at it.
You could also cut the cream by 1/2 cup and replace with 1/2 cup
strawberries if you want. Total recipe makes about 1 pint with 180
calories, and about 3 grams of carbohydrates.

There are more recipes at

Exactly?  I don't know of any low carb sustitutes that are exact
replacements for the high carb items they immitate.

There are no sugar added ones that taste pretty close, sweetened
with splenda ones that are not bad.  Blue Bunny seems to have
the favored lower carb line.  But none of the commercial ones I've
seen are really all that low.  Look at the brands your store does
offer and go for Blue Bunny if they carry it IMO.

As usual with so many health related food issues, making your
own tends to be the best route.  You get full control so you know
exactly what you're getting.  I've never been willing to put in the
extra effort for low carb ice cream so the best I can do on that
front is suggest you search for recipes already posted.

In a previous post, you just stated that you think LC is hard.
Consider this.   Maybe the reason you think LC is hard is because
you're doing it all wrong.   If you weigh 400lbs, why are you looking
for LC ice cream to buy?   All of them have sugar alcohols and aren't
appropriate for someone starting out on LC.   They can be fine in
moderation in the later stages of LC.   But you should be learning a
new way of eating which is to focus on meat, fish, eggs, LC
vegetables, salad, etc.  I'd suggest getting Atkins book, reading it,
and follow it.

I recently bought the Edy's "No Sugar Added" (blue and white round
container) coffee ice cream and it tastes exactly like real ice
cream.  Each serving is only 90 calories and only 4 grams of sugar
(with 5 grams of sugar alcohols).  Not sure if Edy's is a national
brand or just a New England thing, but if you can find it, you should
give it a try.

In the western part of the USA it's Dreyer's, in the Eastern part it's
Edy's.  Same product, same company, just different marketing.  I don't
know where the dividing line is.

And yes, it's a pretty good product.

Breyers makes a fairly decent Carb Control ice cream.  It will not
taste like Haagen Daz, but for low sugar / low carb it is pretty good.
The main thing to be careful of is portion control.  Low Carb obviously
does not mean Carb Free, and the great taste of this ice cream tempts
you to get a little more .... and a little more .... and a little more
.... Have some fruit or nuts to go with it, along with plenty of water
to help aleviate cravings.
