So how is Bucharest this morning? Four degrees Celsius? That sucks, but
cheer up. It's supposed to get to 10 C this afternoon.
So how do you make a living when anyone can google "fat fighting foods"
for nothing? Why not take the afternoon off, and go skiing in the
Carpathians? Well, time for bed here. Say goodnight, Gracie.
Hello, America.
The poster is out of the country.
If you send money, it would be very difficult to correct a rip-off.

You are a scammer. You are trying to execute an Internet
get-rich-quick scam. That is why you are using so many
pseudonyms (Anne, Ana, Helen, Pam, Sandy, Ted, Tam, Wendy,
Zen, etc.). You are not an honest person.
You have also posted "The Most Powerful Natural
Penis Enlargement Technique" under several different
pseudonyms.
Don't blindly click on a link unless security is
totally locked down, otherwise malware can execute.
That's why many spammers conceal the destination URL
using miniurl.com or tinyurl.com. Clicking on one
of these links could cause all sorts of damage.
For example, it could install a keystroke logger
to grab passwords or make your computer part of
a botnet to send spam or launch denial-of-service
attacks.

As though all this spam were not enough of a nuisance, your automated responses
only waste more band width. I think we're all smart enough to see spam when it
gets posted and don't necessarily need you to point it out. I understand you're
well intentioned, but I'd rather read your insights about low-carb eating than
remonstrations of spammers.

But new people may join the group at any time,
and they would not see the warnings about this criminal.

The trouble is posts that only have one line different count as
"substantially the same" because it can be calculated by a program.
Posting many "substantially the same" messages triggers spam blockers.
It looks like your messages use the exact same text cut-n-pasted most of
the time and that they are making it under the spam blockers by not
being frequent enough.
In a sense that makes your reaction too similar to the spam you respond
to.
On the one hand "silence affirms assent" so newbies who see a high noise
group always come in with empty killfiles. They don't know which posts
the regulars see and which posts the regulars block.
On the other hand dancing around spam blockers in response to spam isn't
a good idea either.

My global filter list contains a lot of individual spammers and trolls
in addition to that. The Xpost line drops any post that went to 4+
groups and it's my single most effective line for ignoring trolls.
Other groups help clear out a lot of other noise.
[alt.support.diet.low-carb]
My group specific list contains 8 specific users that I didn't list
here.
The trolls you respond to here on ASDLC get filtered out by some line in
my filter list because I don't see them.

If somebody doesn't see my responses to the criminal,
I don't see any reason to try to get around that.
They probably don't see the originals, either.
That's how people who don't want to see my responses
should handle them -- either that or a killfile.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do
nothing.

Do you have any interest in using another handle when doing your
cut-n-paste responses? Then I could kill them as well but still get
your on topic posts. Your number of on topic posts is low on ASDLC,
high on RFC.

I think this criminal's spam is easily spotted.

A sweeping generalization based on a random sample?
So what your saying is that we should just ignore the predators among us?
Uh-huh.

>A sweeping generalization based on a random sample?
Okay, let's just assume that it's everyone's right to post identical responses
to identical spam. Let's say that I too am free to delete them. The spammer
posts consistently in hopes of attracting curious attention to a nefarious
website. The respondent posts regularly in an effort to save unsuspecting
usenetters from spam traps. The spammer fails because too many people are onto
their tricks. The respondent vigilante only annoys people looking for low-carb
content on the newsgroup. In those scenario, no one is really getting what they
want. The spammer doesn't get enough hits, the respondent fails in his spam-
stopping crusade and I remain inconvenienced at having to delete or killfile
the respondent. I'm trying to find a better solution here. By encouraging Mark
not to respond to spammers, I'm trying to echo supportive statements from
people who don't want to killfile him because of the content of his on-topic
posts.

It takes, what, 2 seconds to open and close a post? Seems like a small
price to pay to protect visitors to a.s.d.l.
