Today is my 3rd day of eating low carbs. Never done anything like this before
in my life. I don' t need to lose a whole lot only about 15 lbs but my wife
would like to lose more so I'm doing this with her. Ever since the first
night I've had a headache and it's gotta be caused by what I'm eating. It's
almost to the point where I want to start eating what I was eating again.
Here is what I've eaten in my first 3 days.
Day 1 - 3 eggs, 3 sausage links for lunch. chicken fajitas with low carb
tortillas for supper. Drank mostly water.
Day 2 - First day of work while doing this. Was starving at work so snacked
on mixed nuts and drank diet Mt. Dew. Lunch was leftover chicken fajitas and
water. Supper we went out to a buffet and only ate meat. Had steak, ham,
hamburger patty with cheese, ribs, and a chicken breast. Drank Dt. Pepsi.
Day 3 - Ate more nuts and drank Dt. Mt Dew at work. For lunch had 2 LC Subway
wraps. Tonight will prolly have some fish and not sure what else i'll make.
During the evenings while at home I am drinking water but I am guessing that
my headaches are from not enough water and I should be drinking more. Any
other thoughts on what is causing this 3 day long headache? I am very active
in sports and am in great shape already.

You will probably here all kinds of fancy medical
explanantions/terminology as to why these headaches occur, but for me it
is plain and simple withdrawal from our drastic cutbacks on carbs--kind of
like a junkie on cocaine. That's the way I see it. We are actually
shocking our body here and it is responding loud and clear with the
headaches as its defense.
I have the same problem on induction. I am sure they will subside as time
goes on.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. How long have you been going low carb?
Would like to get rid of this headache as soon as I can.

I am on day 3 of induction. I lost 30 lbs last year doing this and did not
gain back a pound. Now I am trying to shed the remaining 20.

Hey there man,
The headache vary's for different people. If you are/were a hardcore carbo
junkie - it may take a bit longer before the headache stops. Some people
have worse symptons like mausea and the shakes so count yourself lucky :-)
Have you noticed how you don't fall asleep after lunch anymore? That's that
carbs... :-)
Cheers
Matt.

Take some tylenol or ibuprophen. It sounds like the normal induction
headache and it will go away once your body learns to live on less
carbs.

I'm no nutritional expert but it's probably a lack of potassium. Check
the suggestions in Section 6 at the following link

Don't know if it would cause your headaches, but I don't see
many vegetables in your menu. Three cups of lettuce or two
cups of lettuce and another legal veggie should be in your
daily regimen. Good luck on your venture!

I agree with Marsha. Get your low carb veggies into your
day's eating. Check the Atkins site for the amounts needed.

Try drinking more water. Dehydration could be the culprit.
