It has more of a diruetic effect if you are not used to drinking a lot
of caffine already. If you are, then your body has already adjusted and
caffine doesn't have that effect. So if you're used to drinking juice
and such, and herbal tea with honey and switch to diet soda and coffee,
then yes, you might have to drink a tad bit more for a while. Then you
get used to it.

It's a self-regulating system. If you drink a lot of those diuretics,
you pee a lot. That means you're in the bathroom a lot and unlikely to
be drinking anything at the time. Less time spent drinking means less
time peeing. After a while it all levels out. No, seriously. This is
science or something.
