Well i read in the adkins life book that if you eat too much protein it can also turn in to spiking your glucose.
so what is the average protein intake for an adult?
does any one know where to find the answer?

I've read 6-8 oz. of protein per meal (assuming 3 meals a day.) Of
course if you are super athletic, you could increase that I think...
there are web calculators out there to determine a body's needs. Ok,
so, I can't find one right now... heh! Anyone else?

Guess it's time for bed.

Just For Your Information, 8 oz of protein is equivalent to 1.5 lbs of
lean turkey breast, more or less.

Are you saying that you eat that much with every meal???

Or perhaps you means 8 oz of meat per meat? (meat contains protein and
water).

One ounce of a protein food like chicken breast or cheese contains an
average of 6 grams of protein.

8 oz = As in a half pound of meat.

It's tough to find a scale that calculates water weight in protein
sources for you, isn't it?

http://www.geocities.com/jenny_the_bean/proteincalc.htm shows you how to
calculate your actual need for protein.

Right.  That's why Atkins is high fat not high protein.  After
you've eaten "enough" protein all of the rest is just extra
fuel that gets burned by conversion to carbs.

If you knew, it wouldn't help much.  Are you average?  There is an
entire book on how to find your ideal protein intake level.  Protein
Power by Drs Eades.  There are also an assortment of guidelines
going around.  A simple one is take your goal weight in pounds.
Multiply by 0.8 and 1.0.  Those two numbers are your grams of protein.
Like any simple guideline, it's easy but doesn't work for everyone.

It's easy.  Eat as much protein as you crave.  It could be as little
as 100-150g or as much as 300 grams.  Thing is you will probably eat
pretty much the same amount of protein that you always have.  Unlike
with carbs, if you've had too much protein, you won't want more.
