Ken Bessler - 07 Jan 2004 06:28 GMT McDonalds finally has posted carb info on the menu. I'm scared to think how many double quarter pounders I ate.
I'll take a salad, thank you.....

| McDonalds finally has posted carb info on the menu. I'm | scared to think how many double quarter pounders I ate. | | I'll take a salad, thank you..... | | http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.index.html I've eaten MacDonald's Bacon Ranch salad with grilled chicken twice this week as a meal ... I was happy to read on the nutritional info site that it really is low-carb -- because it is delicious and very filling. (9g including the ranch dressing). I wasn't really surprised at the extremely high carb count of their other foods, of course (e.g., 113g carbs for a supersized Coca-Cola. Talk about a sugar rush!)
I was mildly surprised to see a section (albeit small) of their website dedicated to low-carb conscious customers with recommendations for how to order low-carb from the menu. Their suggestions were actually sensible. I won't be surprised if they come out with a low-carb menu soon in order to keep up with the Joneses (Or the Hardeeses?).

I'm going to the US embassy next week to get a Exchange Scholar VISA so I can go to California for 6 months. Maybe then I'll have time for more NG'ing.

The Queen of Cans and Jars - 07 Jan 2004 14:30 GMT > McDonalds finally has posted carb info on the menu. that's nice. maybe they'll even start serving food someday.
Ken Bessler - 07 Jan 2004 15:26 GMT > > McDonalds finally has posted carb info on the menu. > > that's nice. maybe they'll even start serving food someday. You apparantly have not eaten there recently. The Grilled Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad has only 9g of carbs and is quite tasty! Still, you've got a point - the salad is about the only thing I would eat there......

I thought the chicken was way overprocessed, did not taste grilled, tasted more like they nuked it and dumped some seasoning on it from a tub labled "grilled flavoring." And the texture of the chicken was kind of spongy. And the bacon bits were way too salty, imo. I ended up throwing out the rest of my chicken after just one bite. Now, Chick-Fil-A's salad, on the other hand, that was darn good.

Still, you've got a point - the salad is about the > only thing I would eat there...... your are right: it's been years since i've eaten at mcdonald's. even when i did eat fast food i didn't care for mcdonald's, and when i did go there i almost never ate their burgers. if i wanted a fast food burger i would go to carl's jr. or jack in the box ... but i don't patronize any of them these days. i am fortunate enough to be in a position to make all of my own meals right now, so that's what i do.
i do think it's good that you can get a salad in most fast food places nowadays, though.

-Cheers

Wow, it's not as bad as I thought. I hate mcdonalds for the most part. There aren't too many things they make that can be eaten without being scraped first. But I really like their saussage mcmuffin with egg. 29 grams! The hashbrown is only 15 also. I was thinking it would be a lot more. I guess I can sneak those in from time to time.

I rarely eat at McYuckkies anymore. Ever since I gave up salting my food over a month ago, I find thier eggs and sausage way too salty for me now.

You can select "Quarter Pounder w/Cheese", and after you get the total nutrition info for item, click the "custimize this menu item" link, and you get little checkboxes to take off the bun, and any of the toppings... I took off the bun, and ketchup and got 2 carbs, down from the 30+ of the regular item.
What a cool feature, I wish more sites had it. They even show the ingredients breakdown for EACH PEICE of the sandwitch seperately, down to what is the ingredients to the mustard, pickle, and "grill seasonings" etc.
