The first day on the exercise machine was something straight
out of satan's torture chamber. It's been a loooonnnnng
time since I've done any exercises with weights. So I
approached the thing last week, gave it the evil eye and
said "you are gonna be my best friend". Ha! Couldn't do
more than five of anything, even on the lowest weight. Lots
of grunts and groans. Gee that was fun. Next morning, felt
a little sore. Didn't look like Ahnold though. Rested a
day and attacked the darn thing again. Still only got five
reps of each, but it was a bit easier. No soreness the next
day. So now we have settled into a little routine, workout
one day, walk for 1/2 hour the next or ride stationary bike,
etc. Will try more reps next week. This could become
addicting.

Good deal....a little cardio after your resistance training may help with
recovery and preventing soreness.

What???? You mean I have to do MORE after I'm done with the
torture machine? Okay. I just love pain : )

Yes. I know you are joking, ;-)
But anyhow, you need to do cardio on the off days. You need to get your
cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory systems as strong as your are going to
make your other skeletal muscle's... A strong heart is a healthy heart :-)

No pain...keep the cardio after the workout light -- easy cardio. Do your
real cardio (longer sessions) on the none resistance training days.

This could become
addicting.
Take it from someone who knows... it can. I work out 5 times a week with a
trainer (alternating lower body, abs and cardio, then upper body, etc) and then
I go to the same gym 3 nights a week to get my best friend started on it all.
It's gone from total drudgery to becoming a huge part of my life. And my quads
are SLAMMIN'!! :-)
Keep it up, you'll probably get to where you can't live without it.

Julee
