OK, obviously I know that sushi has carbs when it is prepared w/rice,
but...anyone know approximately how many carbs?  Typically you get six
bite sized pieces which have some rice (but prob. not more than 1-2
teaspoons) rolled around the pieces.  I realize that on induction, which
I may start in a day or two, it's probably NOT allowed, but I have to
admit, I've recently gotten a real taste for it, esp. the vegetarian
types (avocado rolls, cucumber rolls) and would like to be able to make
it an occasional treat after induction.  (yes, I know the salt/sodium is
prob. pretty high).

Any ideas?  Any sites give carb/nutrient info on sushi??  I have located
any just yet.

How about RICEFREE handrolls?

An average sushi roll portion has about 1/2 C of short grain white
rice in 6 pieces, which is about 25 g of carbs. Nigiri has about half
that for 2 pieces. My solution to this is to stick to sashimi, which
has fish only.

IIRC, a packaged (freshly made) california roll I'd bought had six pieces and
36 gms. of carb, no fiber.  That's before using pickled ginger with it.  It's
not just rice, it's sweetened rice.

I can't answer your question, but rice, of course, is high in carbs.

My solution was to start eating sashimi....

Unfortunatly on this WOL/WOE, sushi is very hard to incorporate.  I
substitute with sashimi also (sushi without the rice).  That's as good
as it gets for me.

Hi Jumbles!
I am a sushi FREAK - I love it! And I have really missed it since starting
LC last October. Not surprisingly I was very excited yesterday when I came
across a non-rice sushi recipe in my local newspaper! Its a vege-variation
on the traditional rice version, and they looked really pretty. I havent
tried them yet, but I will buy the ingredients and give them a whirl
tonight, and if they're any good, I'll post the recipe tomorrow!
Have great day!
