I don't like the idea of eating at night. What if I switch to a
warrior diet like thing, where I eat only in the morning, say between
8 and 10am. Any thoughts on this.

Also, do you know any books on lowering BF% for healthy people who are
at normal weight. I at at 19-20& BF, according to my scale, although,
supposedly I should not consider that number because my heart rate is
way under 60 and I am therefore an "athlete".

Anyhow, the real number if probably closer to 17-19, but my point is,
I need to drop it and I do not have a clear idea how. Other than
weightlifting and trying to slim down a bit more.

My goal for 2004 is to lose 10-15 lbs of fat and gain 5 lbsof muscle.

Ig...heartrate schmartrate.  At 250+ pounds, (female), my resting heartrate
was always under 60.  Usually around 48 actually.  I dont think it's changed
much since losing some pound either.  I'm the farthest thing from an
athlete.

Yeah. Just because I have a heart rate under 60, does not make me an
athlete! I am not really an athlete, just a guy who has been jogging a
few times per week for the last 20- or so years, with some
interruptions. The scale though, warns that it may not do bf%
measurements correctly for people with pulse under 60, which they call
"athletes". Go figure.

Got any thyroid issues?

My pulse these days is 54-58.

Doctor always checks for enlargement for thyroid but has never done the
bloodwork as far as I know.  I lose weight pretty readily so I'm thinking
it's not an issue.  I believe it's hereditary, my dad had a very slow pulse
for an out of shape guy too.

I would insist on taking your thyroid hormone measurements, if you are
covered by insurance.

I think it could work. As with most things, you need to try it and see how
it works for you.

Google the warrior diet.

You might want to look at Lyle McDonald's "The Ultimate Diet 2".

Your best guide for bodyfat % is the mirror. When your abs are defined and
your love handles are really small, then you're below 10%. I'm generalising,
of course. Just look in the mirror and don't lie to yourself about whether
you see an athlete or not.

I just finished reading it and yeah, it's for those who would be
considered at a normal, healthy BF% and want to get off those last few
pounds.  However, it does NOT look like fun unless you're an
Obsessive-Compulsive Freak.  Which I am.

And no, I haven't started it, I'm easing my way back into dieting and
lifting and then am hitting UD 2.0 in about four weeks.

Cheers,
Nina

Ah, a man after my own goals.

I'm 5'10" 164 lbs, 21%bf (sigh).  To lose weight, I need to do three
things every day:

1. Take yohimbe supplements.  This and ephedra are two supps Lyle
recommends, but of course nobody lets you take ephedra any more.
Yohimbe works best in the absence of insulin :-)

2. Stay at or under 1200 kcals/day (~7x).

3. Do 500 kcals of aerobics first thing in the morning.  At the
moment, I do weights then aerobics 3x/week, just aerobics the other
  days.

At this point in my "journey" I have to suck up and deal with it.
It's hard!  But I've got graphs that prove (to me at least) that this
works.

Wow, I would not be able to eat that low while spending 500 calories
per day exercising!!!

There are days I tell myself the same thing ;-)

You have to be really careful to get enough protein on such a diet,
though.

Oh, the other trick - take the yohimbe before the aerobics.  My theory
is that the yohimbe gets the fat out of the fat cells, and the
aerobics gets them out of the blood stream.
