... I started this past monday. I vowed not to step on a scale until next
Monday but couldn't resist. I found that I had lost 14 lbs already. That
cannot be. But it was true. I kept getting back on to make sure I didn't
have my foot on something else.

Way to go! Remember, it's probably mostly water weight, and you won't
lose 14 pounds a week indefinitely. But it sounds like you're on the right
track!

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

Induction losses go from zero to lots. You are far into the lots range.
Induction losses include both fat and water. The body stores carbs
dissolved in water, so going into ketosis means burning off all of the
stored carbs and dropping the water it was stored in. That's a one time
event and after Induction it's all fat from here on in. Your pace will
not remain "chop your leg off" later; it will settle to a safe rate.
With really high Induction losses there's another water factor. Half of
the atkins process is eliminating foods that are a risk for food intolerance
(except eggs and dairy, shrug) and then slowly adding them back in one by
one. One of the symptoms of food intolerance is water bloating. It
really looks like there was some specific food that causes you to retain
a large amount of water. Down the line when you try to add that one food
back, you'll see a large water weight spike. Watch for it and when it
happens stay away from that one food forever.

Congrats man, that's a great feeling. Keep up the good work and stay
focused. Don't get discouraged if next time you step on the scale it is
only a pound or two, it'll come off in time. I'm not touching the scale
until I'm done with induction, so you've got me all psyched for Thursday.
