Do pure extracts (like vanilla, peppermint, almond, etc used in baking)
have carbs? Why not add these to decafe coffee with a Splenda? Thx for

Why do you use decaf coffee? Doesn't caffeine enhance the thermogenic
effect?

Atkins says no caffeine so that is one way I cut back, I still need my
chocolate : )

Vanilla has about 1/2 carb per teaspoon. I can't find info on any OTHER
extracts, so I just count them the same as vanilla.

I do use them a lot for flavoring various liquids. You get a lot of flavor
for very little carb.

Real vanilla extract usually has dextrose or corn syrup added, according
to the ingredients (no idea why). Other extracts don't, as far as
I've seen. Vanilla extract is usually listed as .3g per teaspoon.
