Hi,
I usually just take the Walgreen's brand, but i know there is a big
discrepancy between the contents of them and some of the higher quality
ones. Is the brand market stuff sufficient to take or is there a good cheap
multi-vitamin that is better? Thanks.

What is your store-brand vitamin missing that the expensive ones have?  I
get vitamin's at Sam's Club, I get their in-house brand, and as far as I
remember it has all the stuff I need.

I have only 3 flaws.  My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

I get the "Diabetes Health Pack" at Costco. It's $18 for 60 packets of 7
tablets.  Vitamin E, Chromium Picolinate, Selenium, Folic Acid, Vitamin C,
Alpha Lipoic Acid and a Multivitamin/mineral. It's Iron free, has no sugars
added and makes me feel just spiffy! I also add flax oil and B-5 to that, and
they're dirt cheap at Costco or www.puritan.com. (they have buy 2 get 3 free
right now!)

LCing since 12/01/03-

Not so much missing as different levels. The Atkins brand has far more B
vitamins and about twice the mineral content. Mostly I wonder if that
reflects Dr.Atkins personal view of the neccesity of supplements, or if it
is really neccesary when doing LC.

1. Supposedly, a person eating well (meat, milk, fish, vegetables)
gets all vitamins from food.

2. All vitamins are made by four companies, and then packaged and
formulated by small firms slapping their labels on them.

3. You can always compare labels on vitamin bottles.

4. It does not seem that taking vitamins hurts anyone.

5. I do take walmart's equate brand vitamins. I trust walmart and
after reviewing equate vs. centrum, there is no difference. I would
not be surprised if either was made at the same plant.

After reading what Atkins recommend on his diet and Protein Power and the
Mood Cure.  They are all very similar.  Protein Power and Mood Cure (at the
time) didnt sell vitamins and made recommendations.  The cheapest one, I
found, was Natrol My Favorite Vitamin without Iron.  With that one you dont
need to add any other vitamins (B or Calcium/Magnesium..  ect) unless you
want to.

It does require 6 capsule a day or if you prefer tablets, 4 of them a day.
I take half in the morning and half at night.  Online it runs around $12 for
30 days.  Not as cheap as a one a day type vitamin..  but a one a day type
can fit in all the minerals as what is recommended.

My doctor recommends that you take capsules and not tablets on some forms of
vitamins.  The manufacturing process, to make it into a tablet, can be
rough.

If you are healthy a one a day type vitamin plus extra C, Magnesium, and
Calcium should do the trick.  If you have some health concerns, it might be
worth it to spend a bit extra on vitamins.

Wow!  That Natrol is cheap online.  I pay 22-23 here!  Thanks for
the clue.
