Even Whole Foods seems to be jumping on the bandwagon--to the
limited extent their policies against artificial sweeteners allow
them to. (Of course, we will ignore the controversy around
stevia, and the controversy around various soy products--I guess
somehow that's different.) They had an end cap of low-carb items
that they carry plus a list of reduced-carb items that one can
find in the store.
Looking at the list now--hey, wait a minute! Don't the Joseph's
Sugar-Free Cookies contain maltitol? Does that mean they will now
carry other products that contain this? How about lactitol (aka
laxitol)? And other artificial sweeteners? Guess they can't
ignore the fact that LC products might bring them more business.
Some of the more interesting entries include: Darielle Pasta (not
that I've heard the greatest things about this brand), Westbrae
unsweetened catsup, Aunt Gussie's Sugar-Free Cookies (has anyone
ever had these or know what is in them?), Yamate Sugar-Free
chocolate (didn't see this; this also contains maltitol), various
bars, protein powder, and stevia.

Its only a matter of time before they start carrying Splenda sweetened
things!
Ppl will start demanding them! Which is good AND bad for my local one.
It means even LESS room for ppl to walk in the store!
