The Subway stores in my area [Indy]charge .40 cents to use the Atkins' low
Carb wrap on any other menu choice. I think that is a rip off.
They allow other choices of bread for no extra charge.
Maybe email to them will change that extra fee.

I haven't been to Subway lately, but I've always just asked for my
'sub' to be prepared as a salad, for which they have never charged
extra. Personally, I would not eat the so-called "Atkins wrap"
anyway. I choose not to eat any grain-based 'food' at all.
More effective than emailing or even writing, is just not buying. The
economic feedback is more effective than anything you can say.

Quitcherbitchin.
It is not the same as the "other choices of bread," it is a specialty item,
and as such should be higher priced than the normal fare. Law of supply and
demand, basic economics.
I'm actually amazed at how small the premium is, when you consider the
absolutely exhorbitant price differential on all low-carb items you can
purchase online.
Subway is a pioneer in finally breaking the low-carb fast food barrier, and
should receive a multitude of e-mails thanking and praising them. I know
I've written a couple of times letting them know I appreciate the new menu
choices and what a great idea it is. And I back this up with patronizing
the restaurant near me and buying the low-carb products. Hopefully the
encouragement will allow them to keep and/or expand the low-carb menu. If
they're immeidately barraged with complaints about the petty stuff, they'll
pull it and we all take a giant step backwards.

(in my other message, I mentioned 2 Subways here are not charging extra
for them.)
I asked about the tortillas, where they come from, but I forgot the name
of the company by the time I got home. They used to stock the white
flour tortillas for wraps from the same company, when tortilla-wrapped
sandwiches were a fad a few years ago. They recently started stocking
the whole wheat ones and called them Atkins wraps. They are much thinner
than most tortillas, though, more like a Mu Shu pancake if it were made
from whole wheat. The sign says the tortilla has 5g carb.
So while a number of stores are charging it as a "specialty item",
the store manager I spoke to indicated it was just a thin whole wheat
tortilla, not a specially-made-for-lowcarb tortilla.
If I find out where I can get these thin ones myself, I will be using
them at home, because they taste much better than LaTortillaFactory,
IMO, for just a couple more grams.

Have you had success frying these up to make tortilla chips? The wife
and I *love* nachos and really miss them. TIA.

We have not tried but there is no reason why they would not work. If you do
let the group know.

Two Subways in my area don't charge any extra for the wrap. The
corporate-produced sign advertising the wrap had a space to be filled
in for the amount extra, which was left blank in these two stores.
You can only get a wrap on a 6-inch sandwich at these stores,
they won't use 2 on a foot-long, nor will they try to cram it into
one. But "double meat" on any 6-inch sandwich is an extra dollar.

Under the heading, "Everythings more expensive in NYC"...
Saturday, I give the Subway wrap a try. They charged $1.69 extra if
you want a LC wrap.

My Subway has 2 low-carb wrap sandwiches - Chichen and Turkey Melts -
6 and 8 grams of carb. They also let you order the low carb wrap for
any of the other sandwiches for 41 cents extra.
I've just had one, so the pleasure was tainted with nostalgia for the
bread, but I suspect the next one will be much better.

Good point! I may have an advantage, because I have never been to
Subway, so I won't be comparing the wrap to the sandwich.

I've had the wraps on a few occasions now and I really like them. The
chicken wrap made me feel like I was eating a Taco Bell burrito (which
is a good thing). Taco Bell could easily get on this band wagon.
Anyway, they were a bit small for my appetite, so I bought one of each
yesterday and had them both for lunch. No ill affects to my diet, so
I'll keep doing that.
Blimpies uses a lc bread for their sandwhichs, and their roast beef
was very good. The lc brownier was also good. That's something
Subway could do with, a lc snack of some kind.
