Excersise about 40 minutes a day 4 times a week

If you are not cheating (and only you know), then I would not worry about
it. I lost 30lbs in 2 months a year ago and kept the weight off. Now I am
shooting for the remaining 20 and 6 of those are down.
Low carb does indeed work so stick with it and don't cheat and you will be
fine. Also, low carb does not mean one can over-indulge on low carb foods.
I think a lot of people make the mistake of thinking they can eat four
bags of pork rinds, 4 porter houses, two can of nuts etc. and still loose
weight rapidly. Low carb with a 'normal' consumption intake beats all other
plans hands down.

well i've cheated
within the last 4 weeks i cheated twice
i had a snickers crunch bar

14 days of it
and i have added pistashios 1/2 a cup when i do eat
but then again i still stay under 20 carbs a day
when i do feel like a sweet treat i'll have an adkins endulge peanut crisp wafer and still keep under 20 carbs.

lunch
a small salad with mayo and hambuger pattie or ground beef
dinner
diced pork stewed with a little bit of tomatoes and onions
a few shrimp garlic butter saute
and another small salad.
evenning snack
sugar free jello
most of the time i don't finish all my food i just get full or my youngest daughter shares my food with me.
i take 1200mg. of flax seed 2x a day
1200 of fish oil 2x a day
and on vitiam E 400 1x a day
64 oz of water or more
somestimes i will have a diet rite soda not too often i just stick to water

Drop the salty hotdogs and fake "candy" completely. Add a variety of
veggies (spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.) to your salads *good start
no less*. Other than that you have made good choices.
Good luck and remember this sometimes works in stair step fashion, wait till
after the period, you may just see a nice whoosh. Dont weigh every day,
it's discouraging.
Best of luck,

For about two weeks. Then lots stall unless they move on to the
later phases of Atkins.
> Just getting alittle discourage when the scale or the tape measure doesn't move.
Very common among folks who extend Induction.
> sometimes i get a needy at times:(.
Nah, just greedy. Staying on Induction in the hope it will work better
than a plan a doctor spent 3+ decades honing. Thinking that ignoring
75% of the plan should work better because, well, it's obvious that less
carbs must automatically lead to more loss. But no matter that it is
obvious, it's not true.
Step out in faith! Move on to OWL.
Hardly a day goes by without someone posting that they're stayed low
and stalled as a result. You have plenty of company. Ultra common
mistake.

Absolutely!!! At one time I lost 40 lbs (260 to 220 in about 4
months)with about 30 carbs a day and an exercise regimen that sounds
like yours. Mine was 30 - 40 minutes a day 3 to 5 days per week on a
rowing machine. As far as support, this is definitely the place to
be. I have been lurking for years and only recently got off my duff
to post. Lots of terrific and dedicated people here who have
collectively decades of experience with this WOE. Hang in there;-)

"Can" is an interesting word. You "can" pay cash for a new house, a new car,
a nice crash helmet, then gun the engine and smash your new car into the
living room of your new house. Don't ever confuse "can" with "should".
> your saying i can lose more if i up the carbs
Absolutely. Follow the directions and all that. It's the most important
concept in the entire book.
> i don't remember reading that in my book
Then you did not read the whole book. It's the single most important
concept in the entire book.
Maybe you got the wrong book? Recently a book came out that is dedicated
to the first two weeks. THE book is Doctor Atkins New Diet Revolution.
Dr A wrote several other books but the rest are only supporting cast.
Maybe you started to read the book, but stopped as soon as you got to
the chapter on Induction? You need to read the entire book before
finishing Induction. Maybe you only skimmed the book and missed most
of the important ideas because you had a preconceived notion of what
you would find? From the front cover to the start of the recipes the
book needs to be read like a textbook not skimmed. Skimming is for
the recipe section.
> let me know which chapter this information is in so i can study it
> more
Open up to the table of contents. They are listed there. If you
have editions 1972, 1993 or 1999 it is every single chapter after the
one on Induction. If you have the 2002 edition after the chapter on
Induction there's a distraction chapter that discusses evaluating your
progress and every single chapter from there on is about the rest of
the process.
It's a basic rule of reading comprehension that the most important
ideas of a book are in the table of contents. The tables of contents
shows Atkins to be a 4 phase process. Staying at 20 is only in phase
1.

If you stay on plan, you WILL lose weight. You might not lose it as quickly as
you'd LIKE, but you WILL lose, so hang in there! Be on the lookout for other
changes that may not show up on the scale OR measuring tape. Do your fingers
seem thinner when you clasp your hands together? How about your wrists? Can
your fingers touch if you try to get your thumb and middle finger to meet around
one -- if not, are they at least closer together when you try? Does your neck
seem smaller? Is your bra fitting a little better? If you cross one arm over to
the other shoulder and grab it, does it seem like there's less bulk there? The
next time you put your hands on your hips as you scold your children, notice
where your hands are resting -- does THAT part of your hips seem smaller? I
remember raising my arm over my head for something and realizing that it was
LIGHTER. It was a PERCEPTION thing, not a measurement thing, but is was JUST
that little nudge I needed to let me know I WAS losing weight :-) Noticing these
LITTLE things when you can't see any BIG changes can make your day AND help keep
you focused by knowing it IS working!
PMS generally DOES increase your weight temporarily. Many woman, dismayed as
they are by this, are delighted by the accompanying post-PMS whoosh :-) Mine
doesn't usually happen until AFTER my period is over, which is pretty annoying.
After eating this way for almost 7 months, though, it's been interesting just
keeping track of how my hormones affect my weight at various parts of my cycle.
Since my periods can be anywhere from 2-7 weeks apart at this time of my life,
the sudden gain is a good indication to me to expect my period within 2-4 days.
Another thing I've noticed is kind of weird -- I rarely get heartburn anymore,
but I DO seem to get it about once a month -- when I'm ovulating. Now why the
heck would THAT affect it?

Get out the tape measure. Right down the inches at a bunch of
points. Use your favorite list, or hips waist chest thighs arms.
Size is the real goal not weight for the vast majority.
> doug freburger says i should have a little faith and move up
> my carbs alittle (5 a week like the book says)
Like the book says. Right. It's really Dr Atkins that says it.
I'm just reciting his ideas.
> but i'm just so afraid to gain weight
Ah fear. That's the issue. Some people think courage is lack of
fear. Not so. Courage is having the fear but acting anyways.
Do not worry about gaining fat. Unless you eat unbelievable huge
amounts it can't happen while in ketosis. Ketosis sets the flow
of fat to be out of storage and it takes vast overdoses of fat to
overwhelm that direction. Don't eat an entire stick of butter
daily as a snack, and gaining new fat is handled.
Eating more carbs to find your CCLL will NOT cause you to gain
new fat. Eating more carbs to find your CCLM later in the plan
will not cause you to gain new fat. Going over your CCLM is what
it takes to gain new fat.
Sure you're afraid. Almost every newbie is afraid. The only ones
who aren't afraid are the few who don't know enough. It's okay.
You're in good company in your fear. Do it because it is the right
thing to do.
Trust the Doctor, Luke. Use the ketosis, Luke. The plan will be
with you, always. - The Ghost of Dr Atkins spoofing the ghost of

A lot of women only see losses show up on the scale during the first half
of their cycle or just after menstruation. Hormonal water retention
masks it the rest of the time. You can probably expect a "whoosh" of
several pounds water loss a few days into your period, when you have to
go to the bathroom much more often than usual.
