The first annual CCARBS weigh in is here!  CCARBS is a study that began last
January which is measuring the long-term success of low carb dieters.  The
study recruited people who had been on a low carb diet for at least 3
months. It is being run by Albert Einstein Medical School.

The study asks participants to fill in some questionnaires about our eating
habits to determine how we are defining low carb. It is not as well
constructed as some of us would like. But what I do like the study also
requires that participants be weighed once a year. It is a 3 years study.
The goal is to see how many of the original low carbers stay on the diet and
maintain their weight loss.  There is currently NO data that tracks low carb
weight loss longer than a single year.

I'm a participant . On January 13, 2003 I weighed 151.50.  Today I weigh
139.50. I'll be heading down to my doctor this week to get the official
weigh in form signed.

If you're a participant, I'm curious if your data will support the success
of the low carb way of eating as a long term diet strategy.  How are you
doing?

Roger,

CCARBS posted recruiting messages on this newsgroup last December or
January. That's how I found them.

Your results are wonderful. Too bad you didn't participate in the study.
That's the kind of result they need to document.  Anecdotal is nice, but
certified results are better.
