No mention of a LC menu on their website, but then they still seem to be
flogging Christmas parties on-line.
I'm a bit dubious about the food in pub chains. A friend of mine used to
work for one and told me most of the food was pre-packaged and frozen.
Things like lasagne, scampi, and pasta bake type dishes were simply
defrosted/heated in a microwave, taken out of their cardboard containers and
slapped on a plate. I figure for my money, I could make it much better at
home and with fresher ingredients. And if you've ever tasted frozen
re-contsituted chicken in a chain pub, you'll know you can likely make a
much better chicken burger for yourself in your own kitchen.
Having said that, I did eat at Slug and Lettuce over the weekend. I ordered
their 16oz Handmade Prime Beef Burger. I asked that they replace the chips
with a salad, which they gladly did. They delivered to me the biggest burger
I'd seen in my life. Two HUGE beef burgers slathered in cheese, bacon, fresh
rocket leaves, tomatoes and onions. I removed the buns, gave the onion rings
to my husband and by the time I was finished, I didn't want to eat for a
week.
Slug and Lettuce get bonus points for their versatile menu and portion
sizes. I've never had a bad meal there and they claim to use only fresh
ingredients (and it certainly tastes that way!) Have a look at their website
and you'll find that most of their food can be re-arranged to fit a LC
eating plan. They are always willing to replace the carbs with salad or veg.
www.slugandlettuce.co.uk - oh yes...and I always trust a place where the
kitchen can be seen by the diners. The one I went to in Bath had a huge
window showing off the entire food prep area - I watched another burger
being made and the mince certainly wasn't frozen.
Just my opinion, but I think your money would be better spent there than
Yates. :)

That sounds great Jules, I have eaten several times in "Slug and
Lettuce" in fact it's one of my regular places, however, the only time
I eat there is when Im having a "Weekend break" from LC every now and
then. I've never had the burger but based on your description I will
certainly be giving it a go.
Thanks again.

Nice one! They do two burgers - the 8oz (1 hamburger) and the 16oz (2
hamburgers) - just go with your appetite! They really were gorgeous and I
can't recommend them enough.
Enjoy!
