Does anyone here have experience with low carb eating while breastfeeding?

Any inputs here would be helpful.  I'm begining LC again...but want to make
sure there aren't going to be any ill affects with my milk supply or my
baby..

Thanks in advance.

One question.

How do you get a bunless hamburger past the nipple?

How old is your baby?  If he or she is under 6 months old and not yet
on solids you should be aware that attempting weight loss (on ANY
system not just LC) may cause problems with supply that could affect
him or her.  In that case, waiting until the baby is weaned or nearly
so would be a good idea.  Another thing to consider is that many women
find that their bodies do NOT give up fat easily while they are
breastfeeding.  It is postulated that since breastmilk is high in fat,
it's a means of preserving those stores for Junior.

If baby is now mostly on solids and your milk is just as an adjunct,
then you might find yourself doing OK on a reduced carb load.  There's
nothing *intrinsically* unhealthy about a diet that is centred around
fresh meats, fish, eggs, nuts, vegetables and some fruits while
limiting your intake of grains and other high-starch foods.

Be aware, though, that some allergens *can* be passed through your
milk.  If you have a family that tends towards allergies (of any kind)
you may need to consider avoiding things like dairy, nuts, soy,
seafood and other allergy-related foodstuffs until baby is fully
weaned.

I've been LCing since September and my todder is still nursing.  I
haven't seen any affects on my milk supply--ill or otherwise--from my
new lifestyle.  There's just less mama to snuggle against than there
was before :-)

I would simply make sure, as you should anyway, that you are drinking
enough water.  Frankly, I'm not sure how eating in a more healthy
manner (which LCing is for me, anyway) could be harmful to you or your
nursing child.  Kudos to you for nursing your child at all!

Umm....ask your doctor? Doesn't sounds like a good idea to me though.
Dieting is not usually a good idea with breastfeeding in general.

Drinking breast milk on a low carb diet is a source of unwanted carbs.
However, drinking breast milk may lead to exercise.
