Steven C \(Doktersteve\) - 13 Jan 2004 05:02 GMT For the first time ever, I went out and did a much more high intensity thing at the gym, and actually got a complete (well, close to complete) body workout.
Between cardio and weights, I wager I burned through perhaps 500 calories at the gym.
I have taken in about 1100 calories, and I usually take in 1800 - I still have one more dinner to go, which will bring me up to 1800 or so. I am ad 38g of carbs (probably more though), and I am STARVING for something, anything.
What is happening here. Could it be that the hard workout (my first "real" one) is doing this?

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

I find a couple protein snacks (like a couple boiled eggs or some cottage cheese) and water generally helps take it away.

Could it be that the hard workout (my first "real" > one) is doing this? Another thing it could be is that i am actually starting to require more calories, as a result of having more muscle. I should probably break down and see a doctor and straighten this all out, however the idea of going to a doctor and saying "i eat a ketogenic diet" does NOT appeal to me.

This is just part of the metabolic "jack up" one gets after weight training. Be happy for it.
however the

If you walk in with the notion that you're eating a "strange" diet, that's the opinion the doctor will get, and s/he will respond accordingly.

Btw, Zoul, you are doing a nice job with FakedoktorSteve but when he calls you to change his diaper, best pass.
He may need constant attention and unnending support like an infant but you should not X the line to nanny.

Robyn Rosenthal - 13 Jan 2004 13:06 GMT I wouldn't worry too much, when I work out hard I come back weak & wobbly & STARVING, but a big drink of water & some tuna or a hard-boiled egg usually makes me feel better right away.

"Oh, its the troll."

Between roger and my boss at work (who is a former personal trainer), and the half dozen books i have read in the past month and a half, I am finally getting a formal "program" down.
There is no reason to put down Roger and myself, unless you feel bad that you are being left out somewhere, in which case, put your silly comments away and feel free to help out.

ConnieG999 - 13 Jan 2004 17:42 GMT > why am i STARVING today? No matter what the reason, if you're hungry, EAT SOMETHNG, preferably protein and/or fat - tuna, egg, cheese, etc.
Next time take a snack with you to the gym for afterward.
Could be many different reasons for you being hungry. Don't worry about them - just eat from the allowable foods and carry on!!

Susan - 13 Jan 2004 17:48 GMT >> why am i STARVING today? I don't know about you, but on days that my fat % is higher and protein lower, I get hungry.
If I keep fat to 50% or lower, and protein at 30-35%, I don't get hungry.
Higher fat and calories cause me to stall or gain weight.
