So..  I'm convinced low-carb is about to change the food industry
forever..  In the past few months, low carb food has showed up in our
local supermarkets.. in the past few weeks, 7-11 has put up a low carb
section, and Subway has their new wraps..I asked the subway working
how the wraps were selling, and he said "really well"..  7-11 guy said
that they just put up the display on the weekend, and they are selling
so well, they're going to expand that section.

It's pretty exciting, wouldn't you agree?

Yes, but now they can put a low carb label on it and charge you three
times more.

I sure do--and that's one reason why I keep running around to see
what the stores are up to.  Hmmm.  There are a couple of markets I
haven't been to for a while.  I'll have to see if they have jumped
onto the band wagon yet.

Agreed! There have been the "natural" LC foods, so to speak, all along in
our stores, but it's nice to see the low-carb WOE being pushed to the
forefront more and more instead of the low-fat diet that likes to focus on
pastas, starchy veggies, and breads.

One of the local supermarket fliers this week had some carb counts
marked...chicken breasts 0 g/carb, egg salad (from the deli counter) 2
g/carb per serving, and a few others, all of the same sort. (I forget
whether this was Shaws or Stop and Shop...)

Stop and Shop.  They had almost a whole page in this weeks circular devoted
to 'low carb' sale things.

Again?  Last week had lots of items.  I was thinking that was it
for a while.  Now I gotta run down and take a look....

Well, well, well...

Stop & Shop:  bars and shakes (which I won't comment on), Smart
Ones (w/ packages adorned with the new "Truth About Carbs" labels;
some 2 for $4; some 99 cents), some Atkins products, Carb Smart
ice cream (3.99; not as good as the recent sale, but still a
sale), low-carb cookies (are these made in-house--packaging looks
that way--all on the front page yet!  Inside:  Carb Smart bars
(1.99), Soy Slender.

Shaws:  Carb Smart bars and Ice Cream (bars more expemsive than
S&S; ice cream less expensive), Smart Ones (4 for $7--oh, these
EXCLUDE the low-carb entrees; forget that), a few items in the
Wild Harvest section.

Market Basket:  a whole page of LC items on sale.  Various Atkins
products; CarbRite bars; sugar-free Jello; Diet apple juice
cocktail (hmm, that could be useful); their own light breads;
Joseph's Middle East LC Pitas (made with oat bran and WW
flour--gonna have to look at those); other breads....

Roche Bros.:  Lean Cuisine Cafe Classics (half price; are any of
these the LC ones?); Carb Smart bars (2 for $5).  Hmmmm.  They are
apparently producing their own LC multigrain bread (at stores with
full bakeries only), so maybe they will be getting more LC items.

Too bad it is so cold out.  Now I see I'm going to have to look
around before these sales end.

name.

 Italian Salad Dressing
 Ranch Salad Dressing
 Steak Sauce
 Asian Teriyaki Marinade
 Original BBQ Sauce
 Alfredo Sauce
 Garden Style Red Pasta Sauce
 Peanut Spread
 Whipped Dressing

Even the players are multiplying!  Wonder if any of that stuff is
any good.

Oh!  Better look at those flyers.  I don't think I'm going to go
a-looking today though.  It's Very cold here again. -10F when I
got up.  :-(
