lower cholesterol

Has any one experienced lower cholestorl on the Atkins diet? I am in my
second week and a friend told me he has been taken off cholesterol medicine
after six months on Atkins. I am presently taking Zocor and would love to
get off it.

My cholesterol went from 178 to 290 on Atkins :( Doctor told me to get off.
I stayed on and have slowed down on the bacon etc that may have caused it. I
will get re-tested in 2 months.

What was the time frame of the tests--was it within the first 3 weeks?
Atkins says it will be erratic and likely go up within the first month
of the diet. But it is supposed to improve some after that. What about
the good cholesterol did it go up more? The ratio of bad/good is
important to judge health.

This is definitely a concern for me as my cholesterol ratio is bad to
begin with.

My brother says his went down over the months, but at one point his
doctor put him on some cholesterol medication, so I don't know now if
it was because of Atkins or the meds.

Stay on the plan, get rid of the doctor.

My cholesterol dropped from 220 to 193 after 5 months on Atkins.

Mine went from 244 to 165 in about 10 months. My blood pressure was
dangerously high 190/110 and is now 117/80. My triglycerides was over 900
and is now down to 93. I have been on the low carb lifestyle for over 5
years and I feel better than I ever have. Oh yea, I lost over 150 lbs. and
15 belt sizes.
