I tried posting this before and didn't get any response, so here's one
more shot.
I'm on Atkins maintenance, and very active with a high CCLM. That
means I need to eat a pretty fair amount of carbs, including snacks,
but obviously they can't be junk food! They need to be good carbs -
whole grains, legumes, etc.
So far all I can come up with is fruit, BK/Wendy's chili, and popcorn.
Anyone have any thoughts?

ICK!! I used to love Slim Jims until TQofCaJ made that nasty remark about
their ingredients in a recent thread. Haven't been able to even look at one
since!

hee! it's nice to know i've made a difference. ;)
Brenda, i used to work at 7-11. one day i picked up one of the "beef
stick" containers off the counter and started reading the ingredients
... and i haven't eaten ANY of those kinds of products since. i'm not
kidding you, they do have hearts and snouts and all kinds of stuff in
them that just squicked the holy hell out of me. not to mention the
fact that they always left a horrid coating of grease in my mouth - no
thank you. i'll stick to straight-up beef jerky if i need that kind of
snack.

How about a granola mix? You could make it with your favorite nuts, dried
fruits, rolled oats, unsweetened coconut, sunflower seeds, etc. There are a
couple of granola recipes in Dana Carpender's book with about 15 net carbs
per 1/2 cup.

Carbier nuts and carrots. Plantain chips. Soy nuts? I'd think a better way
of doing this would be to browse the aisles of your market for stuff that
looks appealing and then look up the carb counts.

how, pray tell, does one prepare sweet potatoes and winter squash to
make for handy "travel snax?"

Nuts are always a handy, healthy addition to your day on maintenance,
especially almonds. Stuffed celery with chicken or tuna salad or natural
peanut butter, baby carrots, radishes, HB egg, ham and cheese rollups, add
cream cheese for a change or a dill pickle rollup. Air popped popcorn is a
good snack, travels well in a ziplock bag.
