distilled liquors, including whiskey.

My feeling is that if you are willing to take the calorie hit, a shot once in a
while won't make a huge diff. Buy the good stuff, sip it slowly and really
enjoy it. I have a Birthday bottle of XO Cognac that I enjoy hugely in this
manner. I drink about a half shot once in a while. It's so wonderfully
flavorful that tiny sips are satisfying.
