I remember reading somewhere that for every X pounds you are
overweight, you should drink an extra X oz of water.  Does anyone on
this group know a good ratio to use for this?  Also, is there any
guidelines regarding the amount of sodium you intake?

I heard that you should divide your weight by 2 and then drink that number
of ounces of water per day MINIMUM

Placid
I went to the store and read a sign that said "Pet Supplies" ... so I did!

I currently weigh 3808 ounces.  I'm thinking 1904oz of water per day is
going to be tough ...

No, silly.  It's weight in pounds divided by two.  So if you're 200
pounds, you drink 100 ounces.

For every 25 pounds overweight you are you should drink 8 ounces of
water.  This is ON TOP of drinking the mandatory 64 ounces per day.

There is no mandatory 64 oz per day. This is a long lived misreading of
the original finding that humans need approximately that much total water
per day.  But that found that most of it can come from other sources, such
as vegetables. And there's no good research that documents that normal
people need significantly more than that in normal circumstances.

It's an urban legend.*

And the next person I hear promulgating it, well, it will go hard for you.

YHBW.

Martha

*Note to Alice, Vicki and TdN - ok, not according to AFU, but as the term
is ordinarily misused, it's close enough.
