I am going to a "Gala" event this weekend and would like to have just one
alcohol mixed drink.  I know you're not supposed to but just one...I
promise.  I will be on day 9 by then.  I am going to try and get more
exercise than usual that day.  What are some of my choices in the lowest
carb/calorie?  I love Bloody Mary's but that has too much tomato and screw
drivers are out.  I guess a glass of red wine but I really only like red
wine with meals.  What is something tasty?

Stick with a rum and diet-coke and you will be fine.

No you wont!  Rum has lots of sugar in it.

No-carb alcohol includes:  Vodka, Gin, Whisky/Bourbon/Scotch, and Tequila.

Have any of these with Soda and a lemon or lime.

He asked about LC. This is from Atkins.com:

"Pure spirits (vodka, gin, Scotch and rum) don’t contain any carbs."

I stand corrected!  My apologies -- I was sure rum had some carbs in it (it
is, after all, made from sugar cane)

Kerosene

1 X 10oz/250ml tall glass
1 X good shake Angrostrua Bitters
http://www.angostura.com/recsoup.shtml
3 X Slake ICE spoons
Fill - dont shake/stir - with Soda

Drink 'em all night.

Tip.
In Aussie the custom is to shake a few drops of bitters into
the glass and then swirl the glass so the Bitters coats the
inside of the glass. Do Not Do this.
Ask the bar tender to simply shake the Bitters in and fill
the glass gently (the ice should protect the Bitters anyway)
,,yes, it does make a difference.

enjoy

ROFL!

You know...  that doesn't sound half bad.  Hmmm.  May have to give
that a try.

I wish someone would make a sugar-free bitter lemon.

take an 8 oz glass... put lotsa vodka in it.  The rest.. club soda.  I swear
this almost cancels out the vodka.  First of all, if it's mixed right it tastes
like nothing!  I swear, water!... 2nd of all- no carbs in vodka or club soda.
I think it's called a belvedere. AND- with all that vodka, you only need ONE!..
I know your posting is old but i wanted to respond anyway.  I am pretty excited
about this site.

I drink these from time to time too - I measure out a jigger of vodka (just
so I know how much I'm having for calorie-counting purposes) and add a
splash of lemon juice to the glass after filling it with soda.

Hmm.. the club soda I saw in the grocery store yesterday had carbs in
it.  I'm thinking it had like 24g?

Club soda is carbonated water, period.

Then it wasn't club soda. Club soda is merely carbonated water.

Seltzer is merely carbonated water. Club soda contains minerals,
usually rich in sodium (hence the 'soda'). Probably, Jen encountered
that fizziest of oxymorons, flavored club soda.
