I would like to ask an ignorant question.

Supposedly, in a healthy person, after eating more or less any meal,
fluctuations of blood sugar levels are minimal. As soon as glucose
enters blood, insulin is secreted and glucose is absorbed.

It seems that highly fluctuating glucose levels are a symptom of
pre-diabetes or worse.

So, does it follow that people who feel substantially different
[feeling a "rush" or whatever] and for whom carby foods produce
feeling of hunger a couple of hours later, are in fact pre-diabetic?

Jenny posted a message related to this question, but I would like to
solicit some opinions in a more direct manner.

The best way to answer your question is to buy a cheap blood sugar meter and
test yourself a few times after eating carbs.  The answer will be definitve.
http://www.geocities.com/jenny_the_bean/risk.htm explains exactly how to do
this.

I could not have given this advice even 4 years ago, because meters and
strips used to be prohibitively expensive, but you can now equip yourself
with everything you need for only $28 at Wal-mart.

That $28 could literally save your life, becauese the first "symptom" of
abnormal blood sugar for all too many people is a fatal heart attack. That
heart attack usually occurs long before the test most doctors rely on shows
a blood sugar abnormality. That's because they use the fasting blood sugar
test which remains normal long after your post meal blood sugar has reached
dangerous levels. Fortunately, you can spot that abnormality yourself, at
home, using a blood sugar meter.

Thanks Jenny, I'll see, maybe there is someone I can borrow a meter
from. Don't want to freak out my spouse by buying one.

thank you again.
